Senior Technical Sales Engineer – Commercial Aviation

You will apply comprehensive knowledge and strong technical skills in system level communication engineering expertise to provide pre-sales technical consultancy to existing and prospective customers to add value and drive revenue.

- Adapt and match your existing technical expertise to the Intelsat commercial aviation environment, further advancing our perception and regard as the most technically savvy partner within the airline community.
- Through the sales process, the incumbent finds the equivalent "nerd" at the airline with whom they interact to identify and resolve gaps in understanding, friction points and gather general airline intelligence.
- Anticipate and uncover customer challenges, then solve them by applying engineering skills and delivering on-point solutions to delight the customer. This job lives at the intersection of aviation/aerospace, satcom and the internet. Your success is due to your expertise in all three with 50% on aerospace, and 25% each on satcom and the internet.
- Perform communication system design (satellite and terrestrial) and feasibility analysis to develop value solutions that intersect customer needs and Intelsat strategies.
- Assist Sales to identify customer needs and drivers both technically and financially and collaborate with Sales through customer assessments, proposal development and the delivery of effective communications.
- Develop and maintain trusting and collaborative technical customer relationships, both internally and externally.
- Continuously seek to educate and train others on Intelsat products, tools, and operations.
- You will gain knowledge and understand competitor technology and offerings, collaborating with the Sales team in differentiating our products.
Can you drive these processes?
- You will be recognized as an internal thought leader within this function, with deep and comprehensive expertise in relating Intelsat technology to the airline sector.
- Through ongoing engagement with and visibility into various product and technical team developments within Intelsat, extrapolate new technology/product applications toward utility in Sales campaigns.
- Stay abreast of competitive announcements and developments, interpolating relevance to our own portfolio from a Sales positioning perspective.
- Develop trust- and knowledge-based relationships across technical and product teams within Intelsat, ensuring the greatest possible collaboration across teams.
You should definitely have:
- A Bachelor's degree in electrical or telecommunications engineering or similar technical field (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered)
- At least 3-years of recent pre-sales engineering or other relevant experience and/or other
- Effective English language communication skills, both verbal and written; including the ability and comfort to listen to and communicate and effectivelyl with internal and external stakeholders, including at senior executive levels.
- Ability to interact effectively with people of various cultural backgrounds
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Comprehensive knowledge of digital network communications and RF signal theory, digital satellite network architectures, IP networking. Plus at least basic level knowledge of VSAT networks and platforms as well as TCP/IP protocol suite and network protocols (unicast/multicast, VoIP, IPsec, QoS).
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time to meet business needs.
It would be nice if you had:
- Additional years of experience
- Technical aviation experience, ideally for a company that is a vendor to the airline community.
- Understanding of the IFC environment and competitive offerings.
- Experience or familiarity with major aircraft OEM line-fit programs such as Airbus or Boeing.
