BlackRock’s Fixed Income team runs more than $1 trillion in global fixed income assets across index, active long-only, alternative, and liability driven strategies. The platform offers fixed income investors one of the industry's broadest array of investment choices across model-based and fundamental investment styles.
The Financial Institutions Group is seeking a candidate to join the team as a Securitized Assets Portfolio Manager. The FIG team manages a wide range of Fixed Income portfolios for financial institutions, including over $100bn+ in Structured Products across various collateral types and legal formats. The successful candidate will work with relevant Lead PMs to ensure that investment ideas sourced through BlackRock’s extensive trading, research, and capital markets teams are accurately applied to the portfolios and in line with portfolio guidelines & risk budgets. The candidate will contribute to alpha, yield and idea generation by providing assistance throughout the life cycle of an investment and its implementation in portfolios. Team members develop analytics, reports, tools and framework to attribute performance, monitor risks and design custom portfolio solutions for clients using asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk management and other related investment skills.
Job description:
Work alongside the asset-backed securities (ABS), collateralized loan obligation (CLO), commercial mortgage-backed securities (CMBS), and agency and non-agency residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS) sectors to learn about the different aspects of each market, to form investment ideas and to monitor portfolios.
Partner with technology, research, and investment teams for ongoing improvements to achieve scalable practices in all aspects of the investment process (Portfolio Construction / Risk Management / Research / Attribution).
Drive experimentation of analyses and monitoring tools using generative AI to enhance technological solutions to investment processes.
Participate in the setup, evaluation, execution, and management of investments through new issue and secondary transactions.
Provide quantitative and analytical support to PMs investing in securitized securities.
Perform fundamental research on securitized deals and relative-value analysis to reach investment conclusions and make recommendations.
Organize and prepare materials related to new investments and existing holdings, including investment committee presentations and ongoing surveillance documentation.
Partner with both internal and external parties, including all major broker-dealers, to build relationships and continuously support communication channels.
Publish periodic sector updates and daily market information, as well as ad hoc client and internal presentations.
Work closely with the team’s Product Strategists to ensure smooth onboarding process and account activation for all new mandates and generating reports and analysis for client queries.
Contribute towards the client experience by participating in portfolio reviews and client pitches.
Provide information from conference calls, industry conferences, and discussions with management teams as well as research both industry-wide and company-specific issues.
Qualifications:
BA/BS required. Progress toward CFA a plus.
Minimum 2 years of experience and knowledge of Fixed Income markets and Securitized Assets strongly desired.
Fixed income and general finance knowledge, including an understanding of bond math and risk.
Proficient in Python and handling large datasets, familiarity with SQL databases and working with data APIs strongly desired.
Previous experience in securitized asset origination or deal structuring a plus.
Ability to learn fixed income markets, including complexities of different issue types, liquidity, and trading.
Ability to grasp quantitative concepts of risk and exposure, and their application to portfolio management.
Knowledge of financial institution / insurance client portfolio management a plus (e.g. accounting considerations, income or yield-focused management)
Technical skills including advanced Excel and Aladdin. SQL and programming experience a strong plus.
Ability to adapt quickly to changing market environments and perform under tight time constraints.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Good interpersonal skills.
