CUSTOMARY HOURS: 7:00 am-5:00 pm (Occasional Evening & Weekends)

DIVISION: St. Vincent de Paul Center, Marillac Social Center and Foglia Youth and Family Center

General Summary


 

Performs protective and enforcement functions in coping with emergencies, undesired conduct, disturbances, and threats to life and property to maintain a safe and secure environment for all employees and visitors and ensure the safety of company/customer assets.

 

Duties & Responsibilities


  • Identifies situations where security violations have occurred and takes reasonable and prudent action to ensure the safety of employees, visitors, and company/customer assets.
  • Performs scheduled and random inspection of physical premises to observe and identify potential security and safety risks or undesirable conditions; observes, cautions, instructs, corrects, investigates, and reports persons or incidents involving suspected break-ins, tampering, vandalism, thefts, or property damage.
  • Maintains watch at organization entrance and parking structures and access-controlled points; admits or denies access as directed by organization management.
  • Provides immediate response to all emergency situations including but not limited to structural and medical emergencies, confined space rescue, undesirable conduct, violations of company policies or civil laws, and hazardous material incidents; assists until proper authorities arrive.
  • Monitors of property being removed from buildings or company premises to ensure proper authorization.
  • Monitors security protection systems and equipment; tests, documents, and makes recommendations relative to premises security systems to ensure system and equipment readiness.
  • Documents and reports for any irregularity, incident, or emergency actions concerning safety and security.
  • Questions and/or detain unauthorized persons without proper ID or those found in restricted areas.
  • Interfaces with local law enforcement and security agencies as situations require.
  • Performs scheduled emergency drills with the Facilities & Planning team. Observing and adhering to drill requirements and providing necessary feedback.
  • Monitors traffic during drop-off and pick up times, special projects and events, etc.
  • Performs other related duties assigned by management.

 

Job Requirements


Experience/Education/ Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years minimum related experience or equivalent.
  • General knowledge of security procedures/methods and safety laws.
  • CPR and First Aid Training preferred.
  • Patrolling and report writing experience preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Ability to manage priorities and workflows.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Bilingual skills are a plus.
  • Ability to understand any and all safety requirements and cautions.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor
  • Demonstrated competence in reacting to and handling emergencies.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various background.

 

Language

Ability to read and speak English proficiently. Bilingual (Spanish) is preferred.
