The Senior Accountant – Treasury and tax is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting, reporting, and compliance related to treasury operations and tax activities. This role supports cash management, banking relationships and tax accounting while maintaining alignment with GAAP and regulatory requirements. The position plays a critical role in strengthening internal controls, improving processes, and supporting audits.

Essential Functions

  • Serve as the primary accounting point of contact for banking and treasury initiatives including the setup of new accounts, lockbox testing, statement management and other banking related activities

  • Manage and account for daily cash activity, including incoming/outgoing wires, ACH, and transfers

  • Maintain oversight of bank accounts and banking documentation

  • Coordinate data gathering and support for external tax filings and compliance requirements. Maintain proper tax workpapers

  • Manage waterfall and servicing activities by reviewing invoices, preparing journal entries, monitoring and recording payments

  • Monitor changes in tax regulations and assess impact on accounting and operations

  • Work with external tax partners to account for and pay various state franchise, excise, sales and use tax

  • Support unclaimed property (escheatment) processes and state reporting requirements

  • Identify risks and recommend control enhancements and process improvements/ automation

  • Partner with Accounting Operations, FP&A, Treasury, and external advisors to improve workflows

  • Document and maintain processes documentation to support compliance and controls

  • Escalate cross‑functional risks, issues, or ambiguities promptly with clear options and recommended solutions

  • May evaluate new accounting processes and perform accounting research on new business transactions to determine appropriate accounting

  • Other duties as assigned by Accounting Operations Management

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting

  • CPA Required

  • 4 years of progressive experience in accounting required 

  • 2 years public accounting and/or internal controls experience preferred

  • Proficient in the utilization of Microsoft Office Suite

  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets

  • Excellent reasoning and critical thinking skills

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to manage expectations in a fast-paced environment

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, visualize, talk, hear, and handle or touch objects or controls. The employee may occasionally lift, push, or pull up to 20 pounds.

This position is an office-based position where you must be able to sit for long periods of time. The employee will be working on a computer 90% of the time.
