Job Description

U.S. Bank is seeking a Senior AI Technology Architect to lead the design and enablement of scalable, enterprise AI architecture solutions. This role focuses on translating AI strategy into production-ready platforms, defining architectural standards, and enabling reuse across the organization.

These are two (2) open roles, with focus areas including machine learning platforms and AI-enabled application architecture. Individuals hired into this posting will be aligned based on experience and enterprise priorities.

This role partners with engineering, platform, and business teams to design enterprise AI capabilities, shape governance models, and drive adoption of AI solutions at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design of enterprise AI architecture and reusable platform capabilities
  • Define architectural standards, governance models, and best practices for AI implementations
  • Evaluate and recommend AI platforms and tooling such as Azure AI services, AWS AI/ML platforms, OpenAI-based solutions, and enterprise LLM platforms
  • Develop architecture roadmaps aligned to business strategy and enterprise technology direction
  • Guide engineering teams in implementing scalable AI solutions leveraging cloud-native architectures, APIs, and distributed systems
  • Design solutions with sufficient technical depth to support implementation and operationalization
  • Identify risks and ensure alignment with security, identity, network, and data governance requirements
  • Influence decisions around model deployment strategies, integration patterns, and enterprise AI platform design

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in technology architecture, engineering, or enterprise systems design

Preferred Skills / Experience

  • Deep expertise in enterprise architecture and platform design
  • Experience building and scaling AI/ML platforms using cloud services (e.g., Azure ML, AWS SageMaker, Bedrock)
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure, including compute, networking, storage, identity (IAM), and security architecture
  • Experience designing distributed systems and integrating enterprise platforms using APIs, microservices, and event-driven architectures
  • Demonstrated understanding of generative AI and agentic AI, including evaluation of latency, reasoning, orchestration, and safety considerations
  • Experience designing or supporting LLM-based applications, multimodal AI solutions, or document intelligence platforms
  • Strong experience evaluating vendors and enterprise technology ecosystems
  • Experience defining governance models and enterprise architecture standards
  • Strong executive communication and influencing skills

Location Expectation

This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Pay Range: $139,230.00 - $163,800.00
