Job Description

As a Senior Android Developer, you will serve as a technical anchor for the team, driving application architecture, modern UI paradigms, and taking full technical ownership of major engineering initiatives. You will work across the full software lifecycle—from conceptualization to deployment—ensuring our mission-critical applications remain reliable, performant, highly testable, and scalable.

Key Responsibilities:

Architect & Build: Lead the end-to-end technical design, system architecture, and development of complex mobile features for high-reliability environments using modern Android toolsets.
UI Modernization & Standards: Champion modern Android UI development using Jetpack Compose to build responsive, robust, and maintainable user interfaces.
Testing & Quality Leadership: Establish and drive automated testing strategies (unit, UI, and integration testing) to ensure high test coverage, application stability, and prevent regressions.
Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Drive technical excellence across the team by establishing coding standards, conducting thorough code reviews, and mentoring junior and mid-level engineers.
Ownership & Stability: Serve as a self-sufficient, hands-on technical lead accountable for application stability, performance, code quality, and technical debt mitigation.
Project Delivery: Plan, break down, and drive multiple concurrent technical initiatives to delivery, collaborating effectively with product management and platform teams.
Technical Communication: Articulate complex architectural trade-offs, technical strategies, and platform constraints clearly to both peer engineers and leadership.

Qualifications & Technical Skills

Required Qualifications:

  • Deep Android Expertise: In-depth mastery of the Android SDK, OS internals, framework lifecycle, and modern application architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture).

  • Modern UI & Jetpack Compose: Proven experience building complex, performant UIs with Jetpack Compose and modern Jetpack libraries.

  • Language Proficiency: Advanced expertise in Kotlin and Java, including deep understanding of asynchronous programming (Coroutines, Flow/RxJava).

  • Automated Testing Mastery: Hands-on experience creating reliable automated test suites using Unit Testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockk/Mockito) and UI/Integration Testing frameworks (Espresso, Compose Test Framework, UI Automator).

  • Low-Level Development: Experience with C/C++ and the Android NDK/JNI for high-performance or native component integration.

  • Performance Optimization: Advanced skills in profiling and optimization, including CPU/memory profiling, thread management, battery optimization, and leak identification (LeakCanary, Android Studio Profiler).

  • Debugging & Troubleshooting: Superior root-cause analysis skills for tackling deep-seated OS, native, or multi-threaded bugs.

  • Engineering Ecosystem: Proficiency with modern Android development tools (Android Studio, Gradle), version control (Git), issue tracking (JIRA), CI/CD test integration, and Agile development methodologies.

Preferred / Plus Qualifications:

  • CI/CD Automation: Experience setting up automated build and test pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Fastlane) for continuous integration and delivery.

  • Security: Background in securing Android applications, hardware-backed key storage, or encryption standards relevant to public safety applications.
