Position Overview

The Senior Associate Graphic Designer provides essential graphic design and creative services, supporting our Creative Services team with client-facing deliverables, along with internal BME marketing. In this role, you will work closely with our consultants and the business development team to deliver clean, professional, and accessible visual communications. This position requires providing responsive support to both our consultants and the creative team in a remote environment. 

A successful designer in this environment prioritizes utility, clarity, consistency, and attention to detail. This role includes a significant amount of production-oriented design work, requiring comfort with applying established templates, formatting standards, and brand systems across a variety of deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

BME Org-Wide Responsibilities for Senior Associates:

  • Senior Associate roles at BME consist of approximately 90% project work, 5% administrative work, and 5% business development.
  • Support role, with the ability to lead projects as/if needed.
  • Customer service capabilities through a variety of acceptable experiences (retail, service, etc.).
  • Contributes to exemplary client satisfaction.
  • May seek opportunities for proposal development support through narrative writing.

Responsibilities:

  • Document & Proposal Formatting: Design and format high-stakes business proposals, RFPs, and internal documents to ensure brand consistency and visual clarity.
  • Report Design: Transform technical public health data, evaluation findings, and strategic plans into visually engaging and easy-to-read reports.
  • Presentation Design: Create professional PowerPoint/Google Slides templates and custom presentations for client meetings, conferences, and training sessions.
  • Brand Identity & Logo Design: Support the development of brand identities for clients and new initiatives, including logo creation, color palettes, and typography guidelines.
  • Accessibility (ADA Compliance): Ensure all visual deliverables align with ADA accessibility standards, including color contrast and screen-reader compatibility.
  • Marketing Collateral: Design digital and print assets such as brochures, one-pagers, social media graphics, and newsletter layouts.
  • Website Support: Assist with basic website updates, layout adjustments, and page creation within WordPress or a similar platform.
  • Act as a thought partner and/or support for design ideas/projects with team members. 
Experience, Qualification, & Skills

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
    • Masters degree preferred; for specialized and/or technical roles, relevant experience may be substituted for a graduate degree.
  • 3-5 years of professional design experience, preferably within a consulting, agency, or public health environment.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in layout design, typography, and data visualization. A portfolio is required for consideration.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience designing for government or public health sectors.
  • Experience creating, designing, and scheduling social media posts using brand templates.
  • Successful track record of navigating ambiguous project environments.

Required Skills:

  • Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) Google Suite (Docs, Slides, Sheets) and Canva.
  • Ability to explain and communicate design decisions as well as collaborate effectively with non-designers.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines simultaneously and pivot between different projects and styles while maintaining visual consistency across projects.
  • Ability to translate requests from external partners into actionable design solutions. 
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced consulting environment.

Preferred Skills:

  • Website management using the WordPress platform and Elementor.
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools and practices and whiteboarding/wireframing platforms (e.g. Figma, Mural, Miro).
  • Familiarity with AI tools. 
Work Environment 
  • This is a full-time position based in a home office environment within the U.S.
  • BME Strategies in a remote-first organization. This role may require occasional travel to client sites, conferences, or meetings as required.
Compensation & Benefits
  • BME Strategies offers a competitive compensation package that includes:

  • The salary range for this position is $79,040 - $89,440 annually. 

Please note: New employees are typically brought into the organization at a salary between the range minimum and the salary range midpoint, dependent upon internal equity and the budgeted amount for the position.  While we do our best to align the starting salary with the needs of the new hire, BME Strategies does not negotiate starting salary offers.
