Senior AV Consultant (Locations include Chicago, IL, Boulder, CO, Addison, TX or Bloomfield, CT)
Job Summary:
Salas O’Brien is looking for a Senior AV Consultant to join our Technology team. The Senior Consultant will lead the efforts of assigned Audio-Visual (AV) projects and is responsible for the direction of all project deliverables and the technical design associated with each project. The first phase of each project involves translating client requirements into non-technical program documents identifying locations and use cases of systems. The next phase involves translating the program requirements into construction drawings and specifications. Each project design includes floor plan drawings, AV flow schematics, elevations, and details to describe a fully functional system. The Senior AV Consultant must be familiar with and able to navigate within AutoCAD and Revit production tools to assist in creation of project drawings and deliverables as required.
The Senior AV Consultant will review all produced deliverables and maintain responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of each project from Technology Designers.
The Senior AV Consultant will work on a variety of project types within the construction industry. Projects will include new building construction and existing building renovations of commercial, retail, multi-dwelling residential, hotel, stadiums, education, and healthcare facilities.
The Senior AV Consultant will be a natural technologist and may have an elevated level of expertise in Audio Visual and may choose to pursue an elevated level of expertise in Structured Cabling, Security Systems, or Smart Buildings. The Senior Technology Consultant should be working toward (or accomplished with) industry certification through AVIXA and able to obtain within 6 months of hiring.
Responsibilities:
- Meet with clients to review requirements and translate into non-technical terminology.
- Make recommendations to clients based upon industry best practices.
- Markup and draft deliverables with attention to detail.
- Prepare equipment schedules based upon project requirements.
- Prepare budgets for all technology systems.
- Expert knowledge of building codes and industry standards
- Expert ability to produce and edit plans and specifications.
- Survey existing buildings and identify technology systems and components.
- Review submittals of equipment for compliance with the contract documents.
- Observe and report upon technology construction work in progress.
- Manage schedule of multiple concurrent projects to ensure on-time delivery.
- Ownership of all technical aspects of the technology systems design.
Qualifications and Experience:
- College degree preferred but not required.
- AutoCAD and Revit abilities.
- Ability to give clear verbal and written direction.
- Polished and Client facing demeanor representing as an expert in Technology.
- Superior time management skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Eager to share knowledge and learn as technology evolves.
- Experience in AV systems design including audio, video, control, and AV networking systems.
- Experience with and strong understanding of AV over IP platforms and video display technologies.
- Experience with audio DSP systems and modern AV control systems is required.
- 6-15 years’ experience as Technology Design Engineer or Technology Consultant.

Travel: Up to 15%
Compensation & Benefits:
The expected base salary range for this role is $92,000 - $140,000 USD per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on a number of factors including skills, experience, qualifications, and location.
