What You’ll Do

The Senior Cloud Systems Engineer will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing server infrastructure hosted across public cloud environments. This role emphasizes strong operating system expertise combined with cloud platform knowledge to ensure reliable, secure, and high-performing systems.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams including development, QA, and product management to support application deployments, troubleshoot complex system issues, and improve infrastructure automation. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with deep experience in Linux/Windows administration, solid cloud fundamentals across major providers (AWS, Azure, GCP), and a strong focus on system reliability and performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage cloud-based infrastructure across one or more major public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Administer and support Linux and/or Windows server environments, including patching, performance tuning, and system hardening.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure and OS-level issues to ensure high availability and minimal downtime.
  • Collaborate with application and DevOps teams to support deployments and ensure smooth integration into cloud environments.
  • Implement and maintain automation for provisioning, configuration management, and operational tasks.
  • Optimize infrastructure for performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Contribute to disaster recovery planning, backup strategies, and system resiliency.
  • Support security and compliance initiatives by implementing best practices for system access, patching, and vulnerability management.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and operational procedures.
  • Participate in infrastructure migrations and modernization efforts across cloud platforms.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and continuously improve operational practices.

Requirements

What You Bring

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, infrastructure, or cloud engineering roles.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Linux distributions (e.g., Red Hat, SUSE, Ubuntu) and/or Windows Server administration.
  • Solid understanding of public cloud concepts across AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM, or similar).
  • Experience with configuration management and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
  • Strong scripting skills (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell).
  • Experience with cloud networking fundamentals, security, and identity management concepts.
  • Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and troubleshooting distributed systems.
  • Experience supporting high availability and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working across multiple cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Exposure to workload migrations and modernization initiatives.
  • Relevant cloud or systems certifications (any major provider).
