About The Role

FTI Consulting’s Strategic Communications segment is looking for an enthusiastic self-starter to join its team, specializing in providing public affairs and communication services to companies within the technology sector. Our clients represent a range of industries, including quantum computing, artificial intelligence and its underlying infrastructure, agentic search, robotics, cloud computing, and digital marketplace platforms. The team offers expert counsel to help clients navigate complex regulatory environments, manage public perception, and engage effectively with stakeholders. Services include policy advocacy, issues and crisis communications, media relations, campaigns and reputation management.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute across a wide range of accounts within the technology sector encompassing diverse tasks such as research and intelligence gathering, project management, stakeholder mapping, narrative and message development, editorial planning and coalition campaign support. In this position, you will play a critical role in delivering integrated communication programs to achieve successful results against client goals and objectives. The Senior Consultant must also keep up to date on key issues and current events for their clients, as well as generally across relevant industries.

What You’ll Do

As a Senior Consultant, you will support communication initiatives by helping design and execute tailored programs that align with client goals. Responsibilities include:

  • Monitor media and policy developments to prepare regular reports for internal and client use.
  • Identify and manage team and firm participation at relevant events and support FTI-hosted events.
  • Support the organization and development of team documents such as staffing and pipeline trackers, trending issues tracker, team summit agendas, team bios, and key client case studies.
  • Work cross-functionally with team members in other sectors and practices at FTI
  • Participate in the development of new business proposals, pitch materials, and presentations to help grow client accounts.

Client Delivery

  • Develop a strong understanding of each client’s business strategy, services, key stakeholders, and competitive landscape.
  • Develop and execute integrated communication programs across multiple client accounts simultaneously.
  • Conduct complex research and analysis to inform client recommendations.
  • Identify and research relevant stakeholders and target audiences.
  • Prepare polished, client-ready deliverables (e.g. memos, press releases, presentations, media summaries, social media content, and email communications) efficiently and on schedule.
  • Evaluate and recommend timely editorial opportunities and engagements.
  • Assist in tracking program performance and creating progress reports.
  • Collaborate with managers to assess project resource needs and help coordinate task assignments across the team.
  • Provide thoughtful, responsive support to client challenges and requests.
  • Contribute to the growth of existing accounts by identifying new opportunities and supporting project execution.

What You Will Need To Succeed

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in communications / public relations, political science, international affairs, journalism or a related field.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in public policy, strategic communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Ability to travel to FTI offices and client site(s) as needed.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the employer will not sponsor applicants for work visas.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of communications strategy and advocacy campaigns.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks or projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Proven attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, client-ready deliverables.
  • Advanced research abilities combined with strong public policy knowledge.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and oral presentation skills.
  • Understanding of stakeholder engagement, media relations, and/or policy landscapes.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize and manage multiple client projects simultaneously.
  • Adaptability and resilience to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment characterized by frequent change.
  • A service-oriented mindset with a focus on client satisfaction.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, enabling effective collaboration across diverse teams.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Self-motivated, proactive work ethic with the ability to take initiative, work independently and problem solve.
  • Familiarity with Associated Press (AP) Style guidelines and best practices.
  • Proficiency with AI tools, publishing software, and social media platforms (e.g., X, LinkedIn)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience working in a consulting firm or a media, government or non-governmental organization.
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools (e.g., Factiva, Cision) or analytics platforms.
  • Experience supporting new business development or proposal writing.
  • Familiarity with clients in the industrials or other highly regulated industries.
  • Exposure to or interest in public opinion research or strategic insights.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a fast-paced, team-first environment.

Compensation
Minimum Pay: $80,000
Maximum Pay: $119,000
Compensation Disclosure: The compensation range reflects potential base salary for the role. Actual compensation is determined based on a wide array of relevant factors including market considerations, business needs, and an individual’s location, skills, level of experience, and qualifications.
