Lead mission-centered copywriting for integrated marketing and fundraising campaigns across direct mail, email, digital, paid media, websites, and landing pages. Develop messaging architectures, persuasive donor and volunteer communications, and brand storytelling. Collaborate with designers and digital strategists, optimize copy using performance data, and ensure accuracy, accessibility, inclusivity, and brand alignment.
Your Role:
Lead the development of compelling, mission-centered messaging that brings Feed My Starving Children's (FMSC) voice to life across marketing and communication channels. Shape creative concepts and write persuasive copy for complex, high-impact, multi-channel campaigns that advance national brand awareness, volunteer recruitment, donor engagement, and revenue growth. Serve as a subject matter expert in direct mail marketing and direct response principles.
Pay, Schedule, & Benefits:
- The anticipated starting pay range is $71,500 - $75,000. This compensation range considers a number of factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies and experiences, as well as internal equity.
- This is a full-time, exempt (salaried) position. Work schedule is Monday–Friday, typically between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

What You’ll Do:
- Develop campaign messaging architecture including headlines, taglines, value propositions, and calls to action.
- Lead copy development for direct response fundraising campaigns, including high-converting direct mail packages (letters, inserts, envelopes, and teaser copy). Adapt messaging for diverse audiences and stages of the supporter journey.
- Collaborate with designers and digital strategists to ensure copy and creative work cohesively.
- Write persuasive, mission-centered content that drives volunteer recruitment, donor acquisition, engagement, reactivation, and retention.
- Develop website copy and landing pages optimized for engagement and conversion.
- Partner with digital marketing to optimize messaging for SEO, email strategy, and paid media messaging.
- Contribute copywriting expertise to campaign planning, content strategy discussions, and editorial calendar development.
- Analyze performance data and optimize messaging accordingly.
- Stay informed on FMSC’s mission, operations, partner network, and the broader landscape regarding global hunger, humanitarian issues, and international food aid. Translate complex information into compelling, audience-appropriate messaging that reflects FMSC’s expertise and mission.
- Proofread and edit content for accuracy, grammar, style, and brand voice alignment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Your Qualifications:
- Commitment to support, promote, and authentically communicate FMSC’s Christian mission and goals.
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, English, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional copywriting experience, preferably in marketing.
- Knowledge of direct response marketing principles and testing methodologies.
- Demonstrated experience with omni-channel campaigns integrating email, digital, and direct mail.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating compelling brand storytelling, fundraising copy, and high-performing digital campaigns.
- Exceptional persuasive writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to adapt voice, tone, and messaging for diverse audiences, channels, and communication objectives.
- Strong collaboration, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to translate campaign objectives into compelling messaging and creative concepts.
- Experience working in nonprofit, mission-driven, or faith-based organizations preferred.
- Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive writing best practices.

- Work location is Schaumburg, IL. Position will have flexible/hybrid work schedule that allows both office and remote work.
- Reports to VP of Marketing & Communications.
