Job Purpose: The Senior Director of Investor Relations is responsible for developing and managing the company’s relationship with its owners (banks, hedge funds, and other capital providers) by delivering transparent, accurate, and timely financial and strategic communications. This role will establish public company–level discipline in reporting, governance, and financial stakeholder communications within a highly regulated environment. This leader serves as a strategic advisor to the CFO, CEO, and executive team, translating financial performance into a clear external narrative. This role will also draft and coordinate the development and delivery of board and investor materials, bringing together inputs from across the organization and ensuring leaders are prepared for high-priority financial stakeholder and governance engagements

Essential Duties:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for investors, lenders, rating agencies, and other key financial stakeholders.
  • Develop and deliver quarterly, annual, and ad hoc investor materials, including earnings-style reports, presentations, updates, and briefing materials.
  • Prepare executive leadership for investor calls, meetings, board discussions, and stakeholder inquiries.
  • Build and maintain a clear, compelling investor narrative in partnership with Corporate Affairs, Communications, Finance, Legal, Product, Sales, and executive leadership, supporting alignment and collaboration while each function continues to own its respective area of expertise. This narrative should reflect company strategy, financial performance, growth drivers, regulatory positioning, public affairs priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
  • Partner with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Affairs, and Communications to ensure investors, board, associate, customer, regulatory, and external stakeholder communications are accurate, transparent, consistent, and aligned, with appropriate consideration of policy, regulatory, reputational, and stakeholder implications.
  • Introduce and maintain public company–ready reporting practices, including disciplined timelines, consistent messaging, audit readiness, and compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations.
  • Evaluate how investors, analysts, lenders, and AI-enabled research platforms source, interpret, and disseminate company information, and help shape content strategies that improve transparency, discoverability, and market understanding as AI transforms analyst coverage.
  • Analyze business performance, industry trends, investor sentiment, stakeholder perceptions, peer benchmarks, risks, and market dynamics to inform messaging and anticipate investor concerns.
  • Support capital structure discussions, refinancing activities, and potential future liquidity or exit events, including IPO readiness, recapitalization, sale, or refinancing scenarios.
  • Drive internal discipline around KPIs, metrics, dashboards, and reporting standards expected by institutional investors and public company stakeholders.
  • Educate internal leaders on investor expectations, market dynamics, governance standards, and financial communication best practices.
  • Develop and support board and governance materials related to investor sentiment, financial stakeholder perceptions, industry trends, financial positioning, and shareholder narratives.
  • Help implement governance, transparency, and communication practices consistent with public company standards.
  • Serve as the central project manager for investor and board materials, drafting and coordinating inputs, timelines, reviews, approvals and final production across contributing functions and executive leaders.
  • Create and coordinate the development of board and investor materials, including presentations, briefing materials, executive scripts, company background information and follow-up items.
  • Provide hands-on administrative and coordination support during the initial build-out of the function, including scheduling and booking investor meetings and calls, maintaining and updating the capitalization table, and tracking and updating debt schedules; this role carries a meaningfully high administrative workload in its early stages as processes, systems, and reporting cadences are established.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Deep knowledge of investor relations practices, financial communications, capital markets, debt structures, and public company reporting expectations.
  • Strong ability to translate complex financial, operational, regulatory, and industry information into clear, credible, and compelling narratives for investors, lenders, executives, board members, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated skill in developing executive-ready materials, including investor presentations, board updates, shareholder narratives, earnings-style reports, and briefing materials.
  • Ability to partner effectively with Finance, Legal, Compliance, Corporate Affairs, Communications, and executive leadership to ensure consistent enterprise messaging across internal and external audiences.
  • Strong business acumen, analytical judgment, and financial literacy, with the ability to assess performance trends, investor sentiment, stakeholder perceptions, risks, and market dynamics.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to advise senior leaders, prepare executives for high-stakes interactions, and communicate with clarity, confidence, and discretion.
  • Ability to operate with high integrity, sound judgment, confidentiality, and professionalism when handling sensitive financial, strategic, regulatory, and stakeholder information.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage recurring reporting cycles, investor deliverables, governance materials, and ad hoc executive requests in a timely and disciplined manner.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 12+ years of relevant experience in investor relations, corporate finance, equity research, investment banking, corporate strategy, or financial communications.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, capital markets, debt structures, and investor/lender expectations.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex financial, operational, and regulatory topics clearly to senior leaders and external stakeholders.
  • Experience preparing executive-level materials, such as investor presentations, board updates, financial summaries, or briefing materials.
  • Executive presence and experience interacting with senior stakeholders, investors, lenders, or capital providers.
  • High integrity and sound judgment with the ability to handle sensitive and confidential financial, strategic, and stakeholder information.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, communications, economics, or related field.
  • Experience in highly regulated industries, such as telecom, financial services, healthcare, government services, or similarly complex operating environments.
