About the Role

The Senior Director, Lifecycle Marketing & Retention is responsible for shaping how Misfits Market engages, retains, and grows its customer base. This role drives sustainable growth by developing lifecycle marketing and retention strategies that strengthen customer engagement, increase loyalty, and maximize customer lifetime value.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this role is a member of Misfits Market's Leadership Team. 

As the leader of Lifecycle Marketing, you'll define the vision and strategy for how we engage customers throughout their journey while owning the company's customer retention strategy. You'll develop a deep understanding of retention performance, identify opportunities across the customer experience, and partner cross-functionally to align teams around initiatives that strengthen long-term customer value.

This is a highly visible leadership role for a business-minded marketing leader who enjoys solving complex challenges, building exceptional teams, and turning customer insights into measurable business growth.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing Lifecycle Marketing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Define and execute the lifecycle marketing strategy to increase customer engagement, retention, winback, and lifetime value across owned marketing channels.
  • Serve as the company's leader for customer retention, developing a deep understanding of retention drivers and championing initiatives that improve long-term customer value.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Brand, Merchandising, Data, Finance, Operations, and Customer Care to influence customer experiences and align priorities that support retention.
  • Develop innovative lifecycle strategies that leverage customer segmentation, personalization, and automation to create relevant, measurable customer experiences.
  • Build a culture of experimentation by identifying high-impact opportunities, measuring results, and continuously improving performance through testing and learning.
  • Translate customer data and business performance into clear insights, strategic recommendations, and executive communications that drive alignment and action.
  • Define the Lifecycle Marketing roadmap while influencing cross-functional priorities that improve customer retention and lifetime value.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders, align cross-functional teams, and communicate effectively with executive leadership.
  • Continuously improve lifecycle marketing capabilities, technology, and processes to support future growth.
Who You Are
  • 12–15 years of experience in lifecycle marketing, CRM, retention marketing, or related customer marketing functions, with at least 5 years leading high-performing teams.
  • Proven success developing lifecycle marketing and retention strategies that drive measurable business growth within high-growth DTC or e-commerce businesses.
  • Strong people leader with a demonstrated ability to coach, develop, and inspire teams while fostering accountability, ownership, and collaboration.
  • Deep expertise in customer lifecycle management, customer segmentation, personalization, experimentation, and retention best practices.
  • Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into clear business insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Proven ability to build strong cross-functional partnerships and influence executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience with CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, and customer data platforms (CDPs); Braze experience is preferred.
  • Comfortable operating strategically while willing to dive into the details when needed to support the team and business.
  • Startup and/or high-growth e-commerce experience strongly preferred; subscription business experience is a plus.
  • Passion for creating exceptional customer experiences and advancing Misfits Market's mission.
