As a Senior Electrical Engineer in the Oil & Gas group, you will be responsible for performing engineering design and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer in a manner that provides the client with a quality deliverable that is on time and within budget.
Salary Range: $125,000 - $175,000 / year
The salary range above is based upon the Denver, Colorado labor market.
This opportunity is only available to candidates located within the Odessa/Midland, TX area. Candidates can work remotely from this geographical location.
Essential Responsibilities-
Perform detailed design of all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, writing of equipment specifications, project and construction cost estimates, and project scheduling as they relate to Substations and other power projects

Prepare computer-based models and perform power system studies on utility and industrial/commercial electrical power transmission and distribution systems, including short circuit, load flow, relay coordination, arc flash, motor starting, power factor, harmonic analysis and other related studies. Employee should create a simple hand check to quantify the computer aided results.

Develop protective relay settings. Set, test, wire, and install relaying and control systems.

Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including cost estimates, budget reports, proposals, and studies.

Assist with Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) as well as other commissioning activities

Provide occasional field assistance and troubleshooting

Checking the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required

Assists with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings in-person and remotely
-
Supports business development via Seller-Doer, assists with marketing tasks, and prepares proposals as needed

Assists with establishing and managing engineering budget and scope expectations.

Prepare technical write-up for applicable change orders

Reviews submittals for conformance with client specifications and design

Attends safety training and follow safety rules and guidelines

Works additional time beyond 40 hours/week to complete projects, proposals and/or administrative functions, as required

Maintains strong and responsive Company-Client relationships, particularly for communication pertaining to specific assignments and meeting topics

Attends conferences, training workshops, seminars, regular undergraduate, and graduate classes as appropriate for advancement and as required to maintain quality of work

Maintains high ethical and professional standards while showing strong judgement

Maintains professional understanding of all applicable Codes and Standards, and construction practices

Reviews and verifies the work of engineers, designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy

Provides field assistance, troubleshooting, and observation reports

Checking the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required

Other duties as assigned

Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred

Experience: 7+ years of relevant engineering or field experience
-
Licensure: FE is required; PE preferred
-
Knowledge and familiarity with medium and low voltage distribution
-
Base knowledge of Protection & Control Schemes
-
Knowledge and familiarity with substation electrical design
-
Proficiency with power system studies software such as PSSE, PSCAD, ETAP, SKM
-
Previous experience coordinating and managing projects with key clients, customers, contractors and others

Familiarity with the Oil & Gas market sector

Assist with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings both remotely and in-person

Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
