Deal Review & Approval Support
- Serve as a primary point of contact for the deal desk function, reviewing non-standard deal requests from the Sales team for financial viability, margin compliance, and alignment with approved pricing guardrails.
- Evaluate deal structures including discounting, bundling, contract term variations, payment terms, and custom pricing requests, providing go/no-go recommendations with supporting financial rationale.
- Facilitate the deal approval workflow by routing requests to appropriate stakeholders (Finance, Legal, Sales leadership) and ensuring timely turnaround to support sales cycle velocity.
Pricing Analysis & Modeling
- Maintain and evolve pricing models, deal calculators, and scenario analysis tools that enable Sales teams to structure economically sound proposals across the product portfolio.
- Conduct sensitivity analysis on pricing levers - including discount depth, volume tiers, contract length, and product mix - to quantify financial impact and inform pricing decisions.
- Support the development and periodic refresh of list pricing, floor pricing, and discount authorization matrices in partnership with Finance and Product leadership.
Pricing Strategy & Governance
- Partner with Finance, Product, Operations, and Sales Operations to develop and maintain a consistent pricing framework across all product lines and customer segments.
- Monitor pricing trends, discount patterns, and deal exceptions to identify risks, leakage, and opportunities for pricing optimization.
- Support annual and ad hoc pricing reviews, incorporating competitive intelligence, cost structures, and market dynamics into recommendations for leadership.
Reporting & Analytics
- Maintain deal pipeline reporting and pricing performance dashboards, tracking key metrics such as average selling price (ASP), discount rates, win/loss rates by pricing tier, and contract value trends.
- Analyze realized deal economics versus approved terms, flagging variances and supporting post-close reviews to inform future pricing decisions.
- Deliver regular reporting to Sales and Finance leadership on pricing health, deal mix, and margin performance.
- Providing financial analysis on a monthly basis and ad hoc reports as needed, which may involve responding to specific requests for data or insights from stakeholders.
- Leverage AI where possible to automate and increase efficiency in reporting.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Sales Operations, Product, Legal, and FP&A to ensure pricing decisions are well-informed.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to Sales teams by providing real-time guidance on deal structuring and helping navigate the approval process efficiently.
- Support the development of training materials and enablement resources that help Sales teams understand pricing policies and deal desk processes.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field with 4+ years of experience in pricing, deal desk, commercial finance, FP&A, or a closely related analytical role. A candidate may also have a Master's Degree with 2+ years of experience or a Ph.D with 1+ year of relevant experience. A nondegreed candidate will have 8+ years of experience.
- Strong financial modeling skills with the ability to build dynamic, scenario-based pricing tools from scratch.
- Demonstrated ability to balance analytical rigor with commercial pragmatism in a fast-paced sales environment.
- Advanced MS Excel skills required; experience with AI
- Experience with business intelligence tools such as Tableau or Power BI preferred.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex financial analysis clearly to both Finance and non-Finance audiences.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deal reviews simultaneously under tight deadlines.
