We analyze and advise on issues that affect financial markets and impact financial stability across a broad range of topic areas. We are part of the Research, Policy, and Public Engagement function.
As part of a multidisciplinary and collaborative team of professionals, the Senior Financial Markets Analyst will advance the team’s efforts to expand its analytical capabilities for research that requires use of complex data sets. You will use database knowledge to compile statistical data, create data exploration tools, conduct initial data exploration on your own and work with senior staff members on their research. This is an outstanding opportunity for someone who is highly motivated to both learn about financial markets and market infrastructures and to contribute to high quality, impactful work directly connected to the responsibilities of the Federal Reserve.

Key Responsibilities

  • Directly contribute to research and communicate findings to the public through published reports and presentations.
  • Support development of internal policy analysis to support Bank objectives related to monetary policy and financial stability.
  • Support team deliverables to advise Reserve Bank President, other senior Bank leaders, and other policymakers on matters related to the team’s areas of expertise through written analysis and presentations.
  • Develop and maintain overview materials to educate internal and external stakeholders on key issues affecting financial markets and market infrastructures.
  • Contribute to a highly collegial and collaborative work environment.

Your Background

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 3-7 years of experience as an industry participant, regulator, or academic scholar.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong ability to balance multiple projects.
  • Commitment to public service.
  • Strong ability to work with and analyze complex data sets using R and Python.
  • Depending on level of experience, candidates may be considered for a Financial Markets Analyst role.

Additional Requirements

  • Travel approximately up to 10%
  • This position requires access to confidential supervisory information and/or FOMC information, which is limited to "Protected Individuals" as defined in the U.S. federal immigration law. Protected Individuals include, but are not limited to, U.S. citizens, U.S. nationals, and U.S. permanent residents who either are not yet eligible to apply for naturalization or who have applied for naturalization within the requisite timeframe. Candidates who are not U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents may be eligible for the information access required for this position and sponsorship for a work visa, and subsequently for permanent residence, if they sign a declaration of intent to become a U.S. citizen and meet other eligibility requirements. The expected starting salary range for Senior Financial Markets Analyst position is between $102,800 and $121,600 annually in addition to annual performance-based discretionary bonuses. Final salary and offer will be determined based on the applicant’s relevant experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographic and other market data.
