ABOUT THE JOB
The Senior Manager, Marketing Communications is responsible for leading brand-building initiatives and evidence-based narratives across multiple channels and audiences—developing programs and platforms for highly credible evergreen stories and news angles; engaging media and other relevant industry influencers to drive brand awareness and preference; and working across the broader team to maximize derivative content. The Senior Manager of Marketing Communications is experienced in healthcare corporate marketing and communications, category and product positioning, and has a passion for advancing preventive care access, affordability, and outcomes. The candidate must be an exceptional communicator and influencer; have excellent business acumen and matrix management skills; and take a self-starter approach to raising Marathon’s visibility among employers, unions, Marathon teammates, investors, and influencers thereof.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- PR and media strategy: Manage agency partners, own and align annual PR calendar relative to corporate priorities; develop KPIs, coordinate external announcements, and nurture direct relationships with key journalists, outlets, and influencers to build credible earned media presence.
- Communications planning: Develop and manage a strategic external communications plan and timeline—crafting, curating, and coordinating with consideration for broader marketing channels and programming.
- Value prop amplification: Support Solutions Marketing in maintaining and evolving core messaging relative to company and product updates, market dynamics, and competitive context; proliferate value prop through blog creation, media opportunities, native advertising, webinar programming, etc.
- Thought leadership: Support the identification and execution of thought leadership and category ownership opportunities—unique topics, formats, forums (including owned), and spokespeople—and gear internal subject matter experts with talking points, backgrounders, etc.
- Customer evidence program: Partner with Client Loyalty and GTM Ops to ensure a programmatic approach to customer evidence “packaging”—from client/case identification, internal/deskside research, to contractor management and production of case studies, testimonials, videos, and proof points that support outcomes-led storytelling.
- Senior leadership partnership: Partner with senior leaders to support specific corporate relations activities and thought leadership opportunities. As needed, support the CMO and executive leadership with issues/crisis management. Ensure issues readiness through risk analysis and media monitoring.
- Internal alignment: Ensure Marathon teammates are prioritized as an audience—collaborate with People Experience on major announcements and partner closely with Enterprise Marketing and Client Loyalty to drive consistent messaging, maximize use of client stories, and streamline workflows.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelores Degree in Marketing, Communications or related field and 8+ years relevant professional marketing & communications experience, ideally in healthcare; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pay Range: $130,000 - $160,000/yr
The actual offer may vary dependent upon geographic location and the candidate’s years of experience and/or skill level. This position is also eligible for an annual incentive.
