Senior Product Analyst - Pet

The Senior Product Analyst for Pet Product Management supports the development and execution of market‑specific strategies that drive the pet insurance portfolio toward growth and profitability goals. Working under the guidance of the Director, Pet Product, this role contributes to financial planning, rate reviews, market development, and ongoing product communication tailored to the unique dynamics of the pet insurance market. The position strengthens strategic alignment by providing analytical insights, preparing planning materials, and coordinating initiatives that support pricing, underwriting appetite, product structure, and distribution strategies for pet products.

This role is essential to executing operating plans that achieve P&L objectives—including combined ratio, revenue growth, regulatory compliance, and competitive positioning. Success requires strong analytical skills, curiosity, and the ability to translate pet‑specific performance data into actionable insights that keep state strategies relevant, competitive, and responsive to customer and market needs.

·  Support the Pet Product Managers in executing countrywide pet insurance strategies, including product performance, rate reviews, and market development initiatives specific to pet products.

·  Prepare and analyze reports on pet product performance, pricing competitiveness, underwriting trends, claims patterns, and market dynamics to identify risks and opportunities for each product.

·  Assist in developing planning documents and review materials for monthly and monthly pet insurance performance meetings, ensuring insights reflect state‑level conditions and pet‑specific trends.

·  Integrate competitive intelligence—such as competitor pricing, coverage features, underwriting appetite, and market shifts—into recommendations that inform pet product pricing and positioning.

·  Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Marketing, Operations, Claims, Pricing, Underwriting, Legal, IT, Regulatory Solutions) to ensure timely execution of pet product enhancements, filings, and business initiatives.

·  Coordinate and track project timelines to help accelerate speed‑to‑market for pet product updates, rate filings, regulatory submissions, and system changes.

·  Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to the Pet Product Managers and stakeholders, tailoring messaging to leadership, cross‑functional partners, or technical audiences as needed.

·  Develop foundational knowledge of all pet insurance products—including regulatory environments, competitor strategies, and customer behaviors—to support informed decision‑making.

·  Participate in professional development and mentorship opportunities to continue building product management, analytical, and leadership skills within the pet insurance domain.

·  Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support the advancement of pet product strategy and execution.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience in insurance, preferably in a product, underwriting, or analytical capacity; pet insurance strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of insurance product design, underwriting concepts, and market trends.
  • Proficiency with Power BI (preferred), Looker, or Tableau.
  • Strong Excel skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated experience using generative and agentic AI tools (Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, etc.).
  • Ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with project management methodologies and tools.

Working under the oversight of a State Manager, this role assists in implementing processes related to financial planning, rate reviews, market development, and communication. The Associate State Manager contributes to strategic alignment by providing analytical insights, preparing planning documents, and coordinating initiatives that support pricing, underwriting appetite, product structure, and distribution strategies.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:   

  • Support State Manager in executing state strategies by assisting with financial planning, rate reviews, and market development initiatives.

  • Prepare and analyze reports on product performance, pricing, underwriting trends, and market dynamics to identify risks and opportunities.

  • Assist in developing planning documents and review materials for monthly and quarterly state performance meetings.

  • Integrate competitive intelligence into recommendations that inform pricing and product positioning.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Marketing, Operations, Claims, Pricing, Underwriting, Legal, IT, Product Development) to ensure timely execution of initiatives.

  • Coordinate and track project timelines to support speed-to-market for updates and enhancements.

  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to State Manager and stakeholders, adjusting approach based on audience.

  • Develop foundational knowledge of assigned state markets and competitor strategies to support decision-making.

  • Participate in professional development and mentorship opportunities, building skills for future leadership roles.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Sr State Product Manager – Personal Lines or State Product Manager – Personal Lines. Individual contributor role. 

Typical Skills and Experiences:   

Education: Bachelor’s degree in insurance, actuarial science, mathematics, risk management, economics, finance, accounting, business administration or related field preferred.

License/Certification/Designation: Progress toward or completion of CPCU, AU CIC, INS ARM, Actuarial exams or similar designations preferred.

Experience: Six years of experience in underwriting or product preferred. Cross-functional experience from other areas and experience with data analysis preferred.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills: Knowledge of core business functions and detailed knowledge of commercial lines insurance products and pricing architecture, state regulations, underwriting procedures and standard methodologies. Solid understanding of financials, trend analysis and competitor data. Proficiency in analytical tools, relational databases, data visualization techniques, query-based language and/or statistical software experience preferred. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing to present information, communicate and influence internal and external partners at all levels. Must be skilled in the use of related systems and analytical tools. Ability to work towards results, deal with ambiguity, solve problems, learn on the job, make quality decisions, see trends and patterns within data. Ability to lead projects, opposing priorities, timelines and resources to complete work.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

The expected starting salary range for Associate State Product Manager - Personal Lines : $79,500.00 - $119,500.00
