Own end-to-end product design for Okta’s AI agent identity and access management experiences. Design workflows for delegation, permissions, authorization, policy enforcement, and agent lifecycle management across security, IT, and AI personas. Develop novel interaction patterns, contribute to scalable design systems, conduct prototyping and research, incorporate AI into the design process, and present solutions to cross-functional partners and senior leadership.

Secure Every Identity, from AI to Human
Identity is the key to unlocking the potential of AI. Okta secures AI by building the trusted, neutral infrastructure that enables organizations to safely embrace this new era. This work requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes. We are looking for builders and owners who operate with speed and urgency and execute with excellence.
This is an opportunity to do career-defining work. We're all in on this mission. If you are too, let's talk.

The Role

You'll join the team designing Okta for AI Agents — one of Okta's newest and most critical strategic initiatives, providing identity management, access control, and governance for AI agents and non-human identities. Our customers are IT and security admins, AI developers, and system architects who need to safely deploy and govern how AI agents interact with corporate data, tools, and production environments.

As a designer on this team, you'll own key workflows end-to-end, from early-stage concepting of novel interaction models (there's no established pattern library for "agentic permissioning" yet) to hardening flows for scale as the product matures. You'll partner closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and content designers, and work closely with our Principal and Staff designers, to turn ambiguous, highly technical agentic problems such as delegation, policy, audit, and trust boundaries between humans and agents into experiences that feel simple and safe. You'll be expected to bring sound design judgment to problems that don't have precedent to borrow from, and to actively experiment with how AI can be woven into your own design process, from exploration to prototyping.

What you will do
  • Own key workflows end-to-end, from early-stage concepting of novel interaction models, where few established patterns exist yet, through hardening and polishing flows as the product matures and scales to millions of customers.
  • Bring a systems-thinking lens to connect user insights with business goals, creating experiences that keep customers and their users and AI agents safe every day in this rapidly evolving space.
  • Design experiences across multiple personas i.e Security Admins, AI Engineers, Enterprise End-users, and IT Admins, tackling complex scenarios like AI agent lifecycle management, permission scoping, human-in-the-loop authorization, and policy enforcement across the Okta portfolio.
  • Contribute to scalable, usable design patterns for non-human identity and agent management and security that hold up under scale, meet a high bar for quality, and improve consistency across the product.
  • Regularly present work, concepts, and new ideas to cross-functional partners and senior leadership, driving alignment and gathering input to sharpen your designs.
  • Actively experiment with AI in your design process, using AI tools for brainstorming, rapid prototyping, exploring edge cases, and iterating on solutions, while developing judgment on where AI genuinely accelerates the work versus where it doesn't, and sharing those learnings with the team.
What we are looking for
  • You keep user goals at the heart of your solutions, while skillfully balancing business objectives and engineering constraints.
  • You stay grounded in delivering real user value even when moving fast and are able to connect the dots across a fast-moving, high-stakes portfolio without losing sight of the person on the other end of the workflow.
  • You move fluidly between big-picture systems thinking and detail-oriented execution, equally comfortable mapping how a workflow fits into the broader agentic AI landscape as you are polishing a single interaction.
  • You thrive in ambiguous environments and are energized by defining patterns, user flows, and system paradigms where none exist yet.
  • You treat iteration as the method, not a fallback. This space has few existing parallels to draw from, requirements shift as the underlying technology evolves, and the only reliable way forward is shipping, learning, and adapting quickly rather than waiting for certainty.
  • You see design as a true partner to PM and Engineering in shaping both strategic direction and operational product and UX outcomes.
  • You're comfortable owning all stages of design, from early discovery through final execution and handoff, and collaborating closely across design, product, and engineering to get there.
  • You are capable and have experience conducting basic usability tests for your design work.
  • You have experience working within design systems, both adhering to existing patterns and contributing new ones back as the system evolves.
  • You're genuinely curious about AI and have hands-on experience incorporating it into your design process. From experimenting to figure out what actually works versus what doesn't, creating shared skills and workflows, iterating on ideas collaboratively with AI, and documenting effective prompts for reuse by others.
  • Your portfolio shows you've tackled complex, technical problem spaces, with a demonstrated interest and ability to dive deep into technical subject matter and translate that complexity into concepts anyone can understand.
  • You're comfortable operating in a high-pressure, high-velocity environment where priorities can shift quickly, and you bring the resilience and adaptability to keep producing high-quality work under that pressure.
  • You share our values and work in accordance with them.
  • Uses quantitative metrics to inform design decisions by working/using outputs from analytics tools.
Qualifications
    • Degree in a related field or relevant work experience as a Product Designer or UX Designer.
    • Proficient in Figma or similar design tools.
    • At least a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
    • A digital portfolio showing depth across a variety of projects, including work that shipped and was used in real products. (Portfolio link required when applying.)
    • 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer.
    • Experience designing for a product with a technical audience as customers.
