The Role 

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager to join our Personal Lines product team. You will be responsible for launching new products, managing day-to-day operations, and navigating the regulatory environment, evaluating and managing results. 

 

This is a high-visibility, high-impact individual contributor role. You will work broadly across Segment Leadership, Product Strategy, Actuarial, Legal/Compliance, and Advanced Analytics to create and execute on critical initiatives. Each local market is unique, requiring your judgment on how best to adapt our franchise approach. You will have significant agency to influence MSI's future, provide guidance to senior leadership, shape reinsurance strategies, and build consensus across the MGA. 

 

Success in this role requires deep command of the homeowner’s landscape, including product design, product build and Launching, pricing and underwriting techniques, marketplace trends, and regulatory considerations, along with a strong grasp of P&L fundamentals, CAT management metrics, and how product design choices drive financial outcomes. 

Responsibilities 

  • Manage P&L results within assigned Region, states, and product lines; ensure rate adequacy and appropriate CAT exposure management 

  • Build and launch new products and work with State departments to unsure approval 

  • Own and drive the rate and rule revision process end-to-end: confirming scope and timelines, preparing regulatory filings, coordinating with vendors, responding to regulator inquiries, and implementing approved changes 

  • Conceptualize and bring new initiatives to market in support of growth and profit goals, including new products, coverages, endorsements, and geographies 

  • Partner with Actuarial and Analytics teams to apply quantitative techniques to assess state-level profitability, uncover opportunities, and make recommendations for improvement 

  • Review competitor filings, rate algorithms, and underwriting guidelines, along with industry and regulatory developments, to inform product launches and enhancements 

  • Implement underwriting rules as directed at achieving business goals 

  • Provide thought leadership to Segment Leaders to help refine go-to-market strategies and product positioning 

  • Set and maintain clear priorities across competing product initiatives to execution sequencing that reflects business impact 

  • Provide mentorship and coaching to junior team members to build organizational capability 

Qualifications 

Required 

  • 8+ years of P&C insurance experience, with deep expertise in personal homeowner’s product management 

  • Demonstrated P&L ownership across multiple states and product lines, including ratemaking, underwriting, product design, and regulatory affairs 

  • Track record of launching new products, coverages, or endorsements, or entering new territories 

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ability to perform hands-on quantitative analysis 

 

Preferred 

  • Familiarity with E&S property products in addition to admitted homeowners 

  • Experience in the California admitted homeowners’ markets 

  • Experience with SQL, SAS, R, Python, Tableau, or other data query and programming tools 

  • Master’s degree in business, Insurance, or Actuarial Science, or a relevant professional designation

  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic: high-energy individual who functions well in a performance-driven environment and consistently meets deadlines
