About the Role.

The State Management Senior Product Manager provides proficient personal Property & Casualty insurance guidance in the management of multiple insurance products and states in support of our sustainable growth objectives.  The Senior Manager leads a team of analysts to execute complex and strategic projects, ensures timely implementation and communication of rate & project plans, participates in cross-functional task forces, and serves as a product subject matter expert within the organization.

What you’ll do.

  • Leverage understanding of insurance business, product, local markets and regulatory environments to develop and lead comprehensive state strategies that influence decisions across the organization.

  • Understand and communicate the link between PURE’s vision, strategies, and department initiatives through the development of local market strategies to ensure progress towards company objectives. 

  • Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of company product features and benefits as well as industry product trends.

  • Oversee the workflows and projects to achieve target growth and underwriting margin objectives with a focus on member experience.

  • Create a roadmap for the implementation of new products, maintenance/enhancement of existing products, and oversight of the analytical monitoring and reporting of state performance. 

  • Guide the rate review process, including the proposal, filing, communication, implementation, and “Go-To-Market” strategy development of all pricing and product changes. 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of the regulatory environment and builds strong relationships with regulators. 

  • Partner as a Product contact with internal areas, including underwriting, sales and marketing, claims, legal, finance, and executive leadership teams.

  • Maintain current knowledge of competitor actions, industry developments and Member needs. 

  • Collaborate with other business units to drive innovation in products and achieve company priorities by providing strategic thought leadership

  • Develop and manage the work of analysts that report directly to them (if applicable)

  • Mentor and be a thought partner for other managers and analysts across our Product teams

  • Act as a subject matter expert on committees/external panels/forums/rate hearings

What you'll need.

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience in P&C insurance product management with demonstrated increased responsibilities over time. High net-worth personal lines insurance experience preferred, but not required

  • Bachelor’s degree required, ideally in an analytical field of study such as Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Math, Statistics or Risk Management 

  • Deep knowledge of the P&C industry, competitors, insurance product pricing, financial drivers of profitability; comprehensive understanding of legislative and insurance regulations

  • Extensive understanding of the insurance rate and product review process, including the effects on other key stakeholders and the membership

  • Superior critical and analytical thinking, quantitative and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-based decisions.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze data, obtain useful insights, and develop recommendations 

  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills; comfortable speaking in front of large and small groups, including senior leadership, and ability to create and deliver appropriate communication to different audiences 

  • Ability to influence stakeholders, and demonstrated level of curiosity

  • Experience leading teams and important initiatives

  • Highest level of integrity and honesty

The base salary for this role can range from $120,000 to $135,000 based on a full-time work schedule. An individual’s ultimate compensation will vary depending on job-related skills and experience, geographic location, alignment with market data, and equity among other team members with comparable experience.
