Job Description:

Job Summary

insightsoftware is seeking a Senior Product Owner to join the Financial Reporting domain within the Equity product organization. This role is responsible for the product strategy, requirements, and delivery of financial reporting capabilities within Certent Equity Management — including ASC 718 stock-based compensation expense reporting, footnote disclosures, EPS dilution calculations, and related financial outputs consumed by corporate accounting and finance teams. This is a senior, hands-on role requiring deep expertise in equity accounting and a proven ability to translate complex financial reporting requirements into precise product specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy & Roadmap

  • Assist with the product roadmap for financial reporting features, balancing regulatory changes, customer needs, competitive positioning, and platform scalability

  • Define multi-quarter feature priorities based on revenue impact, regulatory requirements (ASC 718, IFRS 2), and technical dependencies

  • Conduct competitive analysis of financial reporting capabilities across equity management and equity accounting platforms

  • Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and key customer stakeholders to identify reporting gaps and deliver best-in-class financial reporting solutions

Requirements Definition & Documentation

  • Write comprehensive PRDs with detailed functional specifications, calculation logic, reporting workflows, edge cases, and acceptance criteria

  • Define report structures, data models, and calculation methodologies with precision appropriate for financial close and audit processes

  • Conduct technical review sessions with engineering teams to validate requirements and identify implementation risks before development begins

  • Partner with Compliance and Legal teams to ensure reporting capabilities meet applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with other Equity Product Owners — including Admin Reporting and Batch Processing — to ensure financial reporting data flows and integrations are seamless

  • Collaborate with Professional Services on customer implementations and reporting configurations, identifying best practices

  • Work with Product Marketing on financial reporting feature positioning, release communications, and sales enablement materials

  • Engage with Compliance and Legal teams on accounting standard updates and their product implications

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead discovery sessions with corporate accounting, finance, and equity administration stakeholders to understand reporting pain points and requirements

  • Conduct demos and training for customers, partners, and internal teams on financial reporting capabilities

  • Support Sales in competitive evaluations, RFP responses, and customer advisory engagements

  • Participate in customer advisory board sessions focused on financial reporting needs

Required Qualifications

Experience

  • 2+ years in product management or product owner roles, preferably in B2B SaaS environments

  • 3+ years of experience in equity financial reporting

  • Proven track record of delivering complex SaaS reporting features or financial modules from concept to launch

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration abilities with a demonstrated aptitude for influencing and building consensus among cross-functional stakeholders

  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and prioritization skills

Technical & Domain Knowledge

  • Deep understanding of ASC 718 stock-based compensation accounting, including expense recognition, forfeiture modeling, and footnote disclosure requirements

  • Familiarity with IFRS 2 and international equity accounting considerations

  • Understanding of EPS dilution calculations (basic and diluted) and their relationship to equity awards

  • Solid understanding of equity compensation plan types, including stock options, RSUs, PSUs, and ESPP

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required

Preferred Qualifications

  • CEP (Certified Equity Professional) Level 1 certification or higher

  • CPA or accounting credential is a strong plus

  • MBA or similar advanced degree preferred

  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product management frameworks

  • Experience with financial reporting platforms, ERP integrations, or general ledger connectivity
