Job Summary & Responsibilities

Position Purpose:

The Current Products Senior Project Engineer is responsible for managing all technical aspects of assigned projects while providing engineering leadership for existing product lines throughout their lifecycle. This position drives product improvements, resolves technical and manufacturing issues, manages design changes, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality, reliability, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction. This role also supports continuous improvement initiatives and ensures projects are executed successfully while meeting business objectives, customer requirements, and operational goals.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage all technical aspects of projects while ensuring projects meet scope, timing, cost, quality, and performance objectives.
  • Lead engineering activities for current production products, including, but not limited to, product enhancements, design changes, cost reduction initiatives, and lifecycle management.
  • Design, validate, and approve product solutions by coordinating testing activities, preparing test reports, completing sign-off documentation, and ensuring production readiness.
  • Investigate and resolve product, manufacturing, customer, and field performance issues using root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
  • Coordinate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, purchasing, and other cross-functional personnel to support project execution and technical objectives.
  • Coordinate technical design, validation, and testing activities using computer aided design (CAD) and finite element analysis (FEA) with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure compliance with requirements and successful project outcomes.
  • Develop, review, and maintain engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material (BOMs), engineering change requests (ECRs), and engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Support manufacturing operations by providing technical guidance, troubleshooting production issues, and implementing process and product improvements.
  • Ensure products meet customer requirements, industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality expectations throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Monitor project progress, identify technical risks, and communicate status, recommendations, and corrective actions to management and stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement through employee development, process optimization, waste elimination, and implementation of best engineering practices.
  • Promote and support a safe working environment within laboratory, office, and manufacturing settings.
  • Mentor engineers and technical staff while providing technical leadership across cross-functional project teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Training

  • A bachelor’s degree in an engineering field is required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in engineering.
  • Experience in the medium-to-heavy-duty truck industry and/or a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Exposure or training with vehicle dynamics is desirable.
  • Ability to travel on an as needed basis up to 10% of the time.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple projects and manage technical activities from concept through production implementation.
  • Proven track record of product innovation, design validation, testing, and continuous product improvement.
  • Proficiency with CAD, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), engineering analysis tools, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering change management, and product development methodologies.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers to achieve technical and business objectives.
  • Knowledge of quality and continuous improvement tools and root cause analysis.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, communication, and project management skills.

Pay Range

In accordance with applicable pay transparency laws, the salary range for this position is $120,000.00-130,000.00 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on factors such as experience, education, qualifications, and other job-related criteri
