Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Core Java Engineer with recent, hands-on experience developing low- or ultra-low-latency electronic trading systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of actual trading workflows and experience building performance-sensitive backend systems.

Location: Chicago, IL – Hybrid (2 days onsite required)
Type: Long-term Contract

Preferred Background

Candidates with experience in the following areas are highly preferred:

  • Matching engines

  • Order books

  • Market data processing

  • Exchange connectivity

  • Order routing

  • Trading gateways

  • Other performance-sensitive backend trading systems

  • Experience within trading firms, banks, or exchanges

Required Skills & Experience

  • Strong expertise in Core Java

  • Recent hands-on experience with low-latency or ultra-low-latency electronic trading

  • Strong understanding of market data, order books, and trading logic

  • Excellent knowledge of multithreading and concurrency

  • Experience with TCP/UDP networking

  • Strong Linux experience

  • Proven experience with production performance and latency troubleshooting

  • Experience developing performance-sensitive backend trading systems

Important Candidate Requirements

Candidates must have actual low-latency trading development experience. Financial-services experience alone is not sufficient.
