 Who we are:

Tria Federal delivers digital services and technology solutions that support the health and safety of veterans, service members and civilians. For two decades, federal agencies have relied on Tria companies to advance their critical missions and modernize their systems, so that they can uphold their commitment to the American people. Today, we are pushing the boundaries of possibility through partnerships and investments in artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, developing solutions for the biggest challenges that government will face tomorrow.

We are proud to employ and support military veterans who bring mission-first mindset, technical expertise, and leadership qualities that strengthen our work. Veterans, transitioning service members, and military spouses are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Senior Test Engineer leads the comprehensive quality assurance and testing strategy for the program, establishing the test architecture, managing the test lifecycle, and ensuring that all Appian and Palantir platform capabilities, system integrations, and data migration deliverables meet functional, performance, security, and compliance requirements before government acceptance. In a program where failure to deliver a fully FAR/DFAR-compliant contract writing system to 6,000 users could directly impact VA acquisition operations, the rigor and thoroughness of the test program is mission-critical.

The Senior Test Engineer develops test plans, manages the defect lifecycle, coordinates with Appian and Palantir teams on integration testing, and leads user acceptance testing (UAT) execution with VA stakeholders. This role partners closely with the Business Architect, Integration Developer, and DevSecOps Engineer.

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of software quality assurance and testing experience, including at least 4 years leading test programs on large federal IT systems.
  • Demonstrated expertise developing test strategies, test plans, test scripts, and acceptance criteria for complex multi-system environments.
  • Experience with both manual and automated testing approaches, including integration testing, regression testing, performance testing, and UAT.
  • Proficiency in defect tracking and test management tools (Jira, Azure DevOps, HP ALM, or equivalent).
  • Experience testing COTS platform implementations and system integrations in federal government environments.
  • Working knowledge of federal IT security testing requirements including STIG compliance, penetration testing coordination, and security control validation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field required.
  • ISTQB, CSTE, or equivalent QA certification preferred.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience testing Appian applications or comparable low-code BPM platforms in federal environments.
  • Experience leading UAT with government stakeholders including facilitation, defect triage, and acceptance sign-off management.
  • Familiarity with automated testing frameworks applicable to Appian or comparable platforms.
  • Experience coordinating testing across multiple integrated systems including legacy system regression validation.
  • Prior VA or federal financial management system testing experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain the comprehensive Test Strategy and Test Plan for the program, covering all phases from integration testing through user acceptance testing and production validation.
  • Lead the test team in developing test cases, test scripts, and acceptance criteria for all Appian contract writing, Palantir analytics, integration, and data migration deliverables.
  • Manage the defect lifecycle including defect identification, tracking, prioritization, and resolution verification in coordination with development teams.
  • Coordinate integration testing activities across all system interfaces, including Appian-to-VA legacy system connections and Palantir data pipeline validations.
  • Plan and facilitate UAT sessions with VA acquisition staff, ensuring government stakeholders can effectively evaluate delivered capabilities against requirements.
  • Develop and execute regression test suites to validate that new releases do not introduce defects in previously accepted functionality.
  • Coordinate security and performance testing activities in collaboration with the Cybersecurity Lead and DevSecOps Engineer.
  • Maintain test environments in coordination with the Cloud Engineer and DevSecOps pipeline, ensuring test data management and environment parity.
  • Produce test summary reports and acceptance documentation for government review and contract delivery acceptance.
  • Participate in sprint ceremonies as the quality voice, ensuring acceptance criteria are well-defined before stories enter development.
  • Ensure all delivered software meets Section 508 accessibility requirements through accessibility-specific test case execution.
