About the Role
McGill Media is looking for an experienced Senior Content Producer to produce social media coverage of US politics and news. The role involves closely tracking developments, verifying information, and publishing accurate, timely posts, breaking-news updates, and other social-first formats across Facebook, X, and additional platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Track US news and politics throughout the day and identify important developments.
  • Produce breaking-news posts, updates, news summaries, and other social-first content.
  • Verify information using primary sources, official statements, public records, interviews, and credible reporting.
  • Follow developing stories closely and publish updates as new information becomes available.
  • Select relevant images, videos, graphics, and other visual elements for each post.
  • Adapt the presentation, length, and format of content for each social platform.
  • Work with editors and other team members to coordinate coverage and maintain accuracy.
  • Manage multiple developing stories and meet time-sensitive publishing deadlines.
  • Maintain McGill Media’s editorial voice, visual standards, and quality requirements.
  • Support coverage during major political events, elections, and breaking news, including occasional evening or weekend work.


What You Will Need
  • Strong professional experience producing social media content for a news, politics, or current-affairs brand.
  • Strong knowledge of US politics, government, elections, public policy, and national news.
  • A thorough approach to tracking political developments and following stories as they evolve.
  • Excellent news judgment and the ability to identify important updates and relevant angles.
  • Strong research, verification, fact-checking, and writing skills.
  • An understanding of how news content should be presented across different social platforms.
  • The ability to write clear, accurate social copy under tight deadlines while distinguishing confirmed facts, reported claims, analysis, and opinion.
  • The ability to manage multiple stories, respond to feedback, and work independently.
  • Availability to cover time-sensitive stories when required.
  • The ability to produce original, independently written work. AI-generated or AI-rewritten copy will not be accepted.
