About Akuna:

Akuna Capital is an innovative trading firm with a strong focus on collaboration, cutting-edge technology, data driven solutions, and automation. We specialize in providing liquidity as an options market-maker – meaning we are committed to providing competitive quotes that we are willing to both buy and sell. To do this successfully, we design and implement our own low latency technologies, trading strategies, and mathematical models.

Our Founding Partners first conceptualized Akuna in their hometown of Sydney. They opened the firm’s first office in 2011 in the heart of the derivatives industry and the options capital of the world – Chicago. Today, Akuna is proud to operate from additional offices in Sydney, Shanghai, London and Singapore.

What you’ll do as a .NET Desktop Software Engineer at Akuna:

Akuna is seeking a .NET Desktop Software Engineer to join the UI team. In this role, you will work directly with Traders, Quants, and other Software Engineers to design, build, test, and maintain real-time trading applications. Our applications are the primary way Akuna’s market-makers interact with the financial markets, and their performance allows us to confidently provide liquidity in times of volatility. In this role, you will:

  • Partner with traders to deliver solutions optimizing workflows and impacting business results
  • Design, build, test, and maintain real-time desktop and tablet .NET-based trading applications
  • Generate visualizations to improve trading efficiency and decision-making
  • Iterate on applications to improve the developer and user experience
  • Deliver through all phases of the software development lifecycle, including analysis, design, requirements, implementation, testing, and post-release support
  • Provide mentorship to a team of engineers

Qualities that make great candidates:

  • BS/MS/Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or related field
  • Passion for delivering a quality User Experience to (internal) partners
  • 3+ years of professional experience in desktop development using .NET, C#, WPF, and/or WinForms
  • Experience with unit and integration tests, object-oriented principles, data structures and algorithms, software multi-tier architecture, and concurrency patterns for building scalable systems
  • Experience with performing code reviews and providing constructive feedback to peers
  • Ability to write code that is clean, readable, testable, and easily maintained
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and version control (Git)
  • Familiarity with options market making or other financial markets
  • The ability to react quickly and accurately to rapidly changing market conditions, including the ability to quickly and accurately respond and/or solve math and coding problems are essential functions of the role

In addition to technical skillsets, Akuna values the unique perspectives people can bring to the table to collaboratively solve complex problems and drive Akuna forward. We want everyone to feel empowered to apply. We welcome your application and encourage you to take the first steps toward your future with us!
