Job Summary:
Responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting software applications within an agile environment, including problem-solving, maintenance, and continuous improvement of systems.
What You Will Do:
  • Design, develop, and implement software solutions using agile methodologies
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions and optimize workflows through automation
  • Develop new applications and enhance existing codebases
  • Execute testing and maintenance using automated testing tools

What You Will Have:
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Software Development: Knowledge of software development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements.
Software Development Life Cycle: Knowledge of software development life cycle; ability to use a structured methodology for delivering and managing new or enhanced software products to the marketplace.
Software Integration Engineering: Knowledge of software integration processes and functions; ability to design, develop and maintain interfaces and linkage to alternative platforms and software packages.
Software Product Design/Architecture: Knowledge of software product design; ability to convert market requirements into the software product design.
Software Product Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of technical aspects of a software products; ability to design, configure and integrate technical aspects of software products.
Key Skills & Competencies
  • Software Development: Experience building and maintaining applications across modern development frameworks, with a focus on quality and efficiency
  • SDLC Knowledge: Strong understanding of structured development lifecycle, including design, build, testing, and release phases
  • System Integration: Ability to design and support interfaces and data exchange across systems
  • Testing & Quality: Hands-on experience with functional and performance testing to ensure product quality
  • Communication: Effectively collaborates across teams, communicates clearly, and adapts messaging to different audiences

Considerations For Top Candidates:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in developing and maintaining software applications
  • Experience in building enterprise-grade applications across frontend and backend layers
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and agile delivery
  • Experience with APIs, integration patterns, and distributed systems
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with ability to work in complex system landscapes
  • Ability to collaborate across distributed teams (onshore/offshore)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Next.js, React, and TypeScript (frontend)
  • Experience with Java Spring Boot, microservices, and REST APIs (backend)
  • Experience with digital commerce or eCommerce platforms (catalog, pricing, ordering, checkout flows)
  • Familiarity with headless CMS and composable architecture
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure/AWS) and CI/CD tools (ADO, GitHub Actions, Jenkins)
  • Experience integrating AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot CLI, Claude Code) into end-to-end engineering workflows, including agent orchestration, automation, and developer productivity optimization

Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $158,480.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
