Crafty's mission is to fuel the world's workforce through our tech-enabled food, beverage, and supplies programs.
The Role

Who we are:
Crafty elevates workplace food and beverage programs with enhanced services managed in one innovative, centralized platform. Founded in 2015, our mission is to help companies craft better workplaces. From DraftKings to Robinhood to Zillow, we work with the world's biggest brands to foster a culture of employee connectivity and productivity. Headquartered in Chicago, with offices in New York and the Bay Area, Crafty manages over 300+ international customer offices and serves over 300,000+ employees per month.
As a mission-driven company, we believe crafting better workplaces starts from within. We are hard-working, passionate and resourceful trailblazers who love what we do. With experts in technology, F&B operations, customer success, fulfillment and more, our people mean everything to us because it's our people who create a culture that's worth being part of. And of course, the snacks are the cherry on top!
The role:
Crafty is seeking a passionate developer with experience in Ruby on Rails to join our rapidly growing team! We are looking to add to our group of close-knit developers and product designers who work to automate and streamline the day-to-day needs of both our internal processes and clients. We're building out internal API's, internal tools, client-facing dashboards, purchasing/recommendation algorithms, reporting capabilities...you name it, we're finding a way to build it. Our team is small but mighty, so you can expect to be involved in all facets of technological problems.
We believe in deploying code quickly, using automated testing and continuous integration to catch errors early. Our agile approach emphasizes prioritization and close collaboration between our development and product teams, ensuring that new stories are thoroughly vetted and well-defined before entering the development cycle. We also focus on individual and team growth, fostering a collaborative and supportive environment where our team continually learns about the latest technologies.
Your experience (preferences, not requirements):

  • 0-3 years experience developing in Ruby on Rails and Vue (or similar technologies)
  • Have worked on codebases using Git (or other similar version control systems)
  • Full Stack Web Development experience

Your proficiencies:

  • CSS, HTML, and Javascript web practices
  • Writing meaningful unit tests
  • Understanding of object-oriented design, client-server architecture, and relational database design (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
  • Prior work with API's and markup languages (XML, JSON, etc...)
  • An eye for great UX and an ability to deconstruct how product and engineering decisions affect broader business goals

You are:

  • Extremely hard working. We are a startup with the mentality that no job is too big or too small for us. You hustle because that's just how you work.
  • Extraordinarily organized. Detail orientation is an absolute must. You have tried-and-true methods in your arsenal for staying organized and on top of it all.
  • Of high integrity and sound judgment.
  • A strategic thinker. You are constantly preparing for and thinking about the future and the project at scale.
  • Calm and collected in the line of fire. On a day when everything that could go wrong has gone wrong, you find a way to stay positive and promote that attitude within your team members.
  • Passionate about growth. We have a bright future ahead - which depends on our team's spirit, morale, and work ethic.

Don't meet all of the qualifications? We want you to consider all of your skills and experiences - both professional and personal- that would make you successful in this role. Although some qualifications are essential, others can be attained with time. We believe diverse perspectives, upbringings, and knowledge contribute to our strong company culture and we encourage you to apply.
What we offer:
Our people mean everything to us. When you join Crafty, you're joining a team of passionate, smart individuals who work incredibly hard and know how to get things done. Building the structure to support our team as it continues to grow will have a tremendous impact in enabling our growth today and shaping the company that we become.
We are proud to offer a compensation package that includes an option to join our Crafty healthcare plan to cover health, dental, and vision plans, 401k, paid time off, equipment certification courses, and parental leave. And, it goes without saying, but snacks, beverages, and fun Crafty events are a part of that!
Crafty provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without discriminating against race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability or genetics.
