Job Details:

We are seeking a highly experienced L3 Certification Tester with deep expertise in payment processing and certification across both card-present and card-not-present channels. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in collaborating with acquiring and issuing banks, executing acquirer certifications, and interpreting complex payment specifications. This role requires a hands-on professional who can independently lead network certifications and contribute to merchant onboarding, troubleshooting, and compliance efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and execute Level 3 (L3) payment certifications with acquiring banks.

  • Interpret acquirer and payment network specifications and translate them into actionable test plans and software requirements.

  • Conduct end-to-end certification testing for both card-present (retail/EMV) and card-not-present (eCommerce/MOTO) payment scenarios.

  • Collaborate closely with acquiring and issuing banks to ensure certification compliance and successful test execution.

  • Perform certification script analysis and validation for various processors and networks.

  • Support merchant onboarding processes and guide integration teams through certification requirements.

  • Troubleshoot unusual payment behavior, such as declines or excessive fees.

  • Maintain familiarity with and contribute to certifications across a broad acquirer/processor set including:

    • Fiserv

    • Chase

    • Worldpay

    • Moneris

    • Elavon

    • Cybersource

    • Mastercard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS)

    • American Express GCAG/GFSG

  • Assist in Terminal Testing, EMV Contact & Contactless Certification when required.

  • Stay informed on PCI standards and support internal compliance initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in payment processing and certification.

  • Strong understanding of card brand and network distinctions: Visa, Mastercard, Discover, AmEx.

  • Proven experience in L3 certification and collaboration with acquiring/issuing banks.

  • Expertise in retail (card-present) and CNP (eCommerce, MOTO) transactions.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply payment specs from major acquirers.

  • Self-sufficient in delivering network certification engagements.

  • Experience onboarding merchants to acquirers and supporting live implementations.

  • Familiarity with MCC 4111 transit rules and open payments (preferred).

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with Terminal Testing, EMV Contact/Contactless certification.

  • Understanding of PCI-DSS and cardholder data security standards.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to payment processing errors.

Cubic Pay Range:

$110,000.00 - $186,000.00 + benefits.
