  • Provide technical leadership across mainframe and distributed systems, supporting teams during complex delivery challenges, production incidents, and escalations.
  • Drive execution of large, high‑visibility initiatives, ensuring predictable delivery, transparency, and effective risk management across competing priorities.
  • Lead and advance modernization efforts, including modernization on or off the mainframe, while maintaining uninterrupted business operations.
  • Strengthen engineering practices through sound design decisions, quality standards, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Develop and coach engineering managers and senior engineers, with a focus on career development, upskilling, and succession planning.
  • Build strong partnerships with product, architecture, operations, and business leaders to align technology delivery with business priorities.
  • Champion agile and product‑oriented delivery models while maintaining accountability for results.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience
  • Eight or more years of relevant software engineering experience
  • Five or more years of experience leading software engineering teams
Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Modernization Experience: Experience leading platform modernization initiatives; cloud experience is beneficial but not required.
  • Data Integration and APIs: Experience integrating and supporting large volumes of data through APIs and middleware; familiarity with technologies such as Tibco and Spring Boot is a plus.
  • System Ownership: Proven ability to own and operate critical platforms with accountability for reliability, performance, and delivery outcomes.
  • Operational Leadership: Experience with incident management and production support in large‑scale, regulated environments.
  • People Leadership: Demonstrated success developing managers and building high‑performing, engaged teams.
  • Domain Experience: Experience in credit cards, payments, or other regulated financial systems is strongly preferred.
  • Delivery at Scale: Experience leading blended onshore/offshore teams and vendor partnerships.
