About the Role
As a Solutions Account Manager for Research Intelligence at Elsevier, you will work with academic institutions to transform research workflows through AI‑powered solutions. This role combines strategic account leadership with consultative selling, enabling customers to accelerate discovery, improve decision‑making, and advance their research missions. You will own meaningful, long‑term partnerships that put Elsevier’s research intelligence tools at the center of institutional strategy.

Territory: IL, IN, OH, and KY. Residence in one of the respective states is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Drive revenue growth across a portfolio of AI‑powered research intelligence platforms, data licensing, and solutions products
  • Champion AI‑enabled research discovery, analytics, and insight tools that help customers work faster and more effectively
  • Use a consultative sales approach to understand customer challenges and develop tailored, high‑impact solutions
  • Build and manage strategic relationships with libraries, research offices, and academic leadership teams
  • Develop and execute account strategies that expand partnerships and deliver long‑term value
  • Maintain accurate forecasting and pipeline management using tools such as Salesforce, Gong and Clari
  • Gather and share market and competitive insights to inform product and go‑to‑market strategy
  • Represent Elsevier at academic conferences and higher‑education events to generate meaningful engagement and pipeline

Requirements

  • Proven experience managing complex accounts and achieving revenue targets in a consultative sales environment
  • Ability to engage credibly with senior academic, research, or institutional stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of data, analytics, or technology‑enabled solutions, with curiosity about AI in research
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship‑building skills
  • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate customer needs into actionable account plans
  • Comfort working with CRM and forecasting tools to manage opportunities and performance
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross‑functional teams

Primary Location Base Pay Range: Home based-Illinois $85,500 - $158,600. Total Target Cash Range: $131,500 - $244,300. Pay mix between base and variable pay varies based on sales role; please discuss with the recruiter. If performed in Chicago, IL, the base pay range is $89,600 - $166,200, the total target cash range is $137,800 - $255,900.Pay mix between base and variable pay varies based on sales role; please discuss with the recruiter.
