The Solution Consultant partners closely with Account Executives to serve as a trusted solution expert throughout the sales lifecycle. This role leads discovery efforts, owns solution definition, and configures and delivers tailored demonstrations that address customer challenges in the Utilities & Energy sector. The Solution Consultant plays a critical role in translating customer needs into scalable, innovative solutions while supporting RFX responses, proofs of concept (POCs), trial programs, and collaborative workshops. This position is well suited for a customer‑centric, agile professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is motivated by solving complex business and technical challenges.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Lead inclusive, outcome‑focused discovery engagements by creating structured discovery plans, providing educational guidance on technical solutions, asking thoughtful questions, and documenting findings to serve as a shared knowledge repository for internal stakeholders.
  • Own the solution definition process by translating discovery insights into comprehensive solution descriptions that clearly articulate product capabilities, value propositions, technical feasibility, and deployment strategies while aligning with customer expectations and supporting customer operations teams.
  • Craft and contribute to RFX responses by developing tailored solution descriptions, proposals, and technical overview documents in collaboration with cross‑functional partners to ensure accuracy, authenticity, and customer alignment.
  • Design and lead proofs of concept (POCs) and trial programs by defining objectives, success criteria, and project charters, guiding customers through solution functionality, addressing technical considerations, and clearly demonstrating business value.
  • Facilitate solution discovery workshops from preparation through delivery, including moderation and development of final deliverables, and co‑lead value‑focused workshops in partnership with business strategy teams.
  • Deliver engaging, tailored demonstrations throughout the sales cycle, including conferences and industry events, adapting messaging to customer use cases, documenting feedback, and sharing insights internally to support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain deep industry expertise by staying current on Gas and Electric utility market trends, evolving customer needs, product releases, value propositions, and messaging to ensure innovative, relevant solution positioning.
  • Configure product-line software to address customer‑specific challenges by applying best practices, industry knowledge, and an agile, collaborative approach to deliver scalable, high‑impact solutions.

Required Skills & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience as a Solution Consultant, Sales Engineer, or Sales Consultant within an enterprise SaaS environment
  • Demonstrated experience leading solution discovery, configuration, and tailored demonstrations
  • Strong ability to communicate complex technical concepts in an accessible, customer‑centric manner
  • Proven collaboration skills and comfort working cross‑functionally in fast‑paced, agile environments
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
    Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Experience supporting utility customers, particularly within Gas and Electric industries
  • Familiarity with GIS technologies and data‑driven solutions
  • Experience designing and delivering POCs, trial programs, and value‑based presentations
  • Self‑motivated, innovative thinker with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
  • Ability to adapt quickly, think creatively, and contribute authentically to customer success

Physical Demands: This is a typical office job, with no special physical requirements or unusual work environment.

Travel: 40%+ of the time
