Job Title: SQL DBA with Azure
Phys Location: Burlington, MA – Onsite – Locals Only
- As a Senior Azure Database Performance Engineer will
- Ensure the availability and optimization of the MSSQL 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022 in Hosted and IaaS SQL VM in Azure.
- Experience with Azure SQL Database and Managed Instance in Azure.
- Snowflake experience is a big plus Monitor performance on application databases, queries and suggest/apply continuous tuning.
- The responsibilities include working closely with application teams and other Stakeholders in identifying issues related to MSSQL.
- Make sure to follow technical standards and operational procedures to meet database performance, High Availability, replication, scalability, and security requirements in both hosted and cloud environments.
- The individual will need hands-on experience in design and troubleshooting real-time MSSQL related issues.
- Monitor performance on application databases, queries and suggest/apply continuous tuning.
- The responsibilities include working closely with application teams and other Stakeholders in identifying issues related to MSSQL.
- Must have experience in tuning of database instances.
- Responsible for coming up with standards to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security, and performance.
- The DBA will perform reviews on the design and code frequently to ensure the site standards are being adhered to.
- Has a good technical understanding and provides technical support to application development teams when necessary.
- Assist in resolving priority incidents to quickly eliminate impacts, participate in root-cause analysis, and support subsequent corrective and preventative actions.
- Work closely with Database manager, collaborate with various Application support and engineering teams to optimize database performance and reliability.
- Senior Database Performance Engineer are encouraged and supported to acquire relevant Azure certifications (e.g. DP-300, DP-900, AZ-900 Exam).
- Establish, maintain, and adhere to CRD technical standards, policies, and procedures.
- Responsible for taking initiative and drive solutions, coming up with standards to ensure that all application design and code is produced with proper integrity, security, and performance.
- Education Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in computer science (or a related technical field)
- 6-8 years of experience working with large MS SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, 2022 databases and Snowflake in a 24 x 7 x 365 production environment
- Good performance tuning experience, using all available tools like SolarWinds, Query Store, Extended Events, and methods to investigate and make recommendations to improve slow performing queries and procedures at the database and server level.
- 2 years of hands-on experience operating MS SQL servers and related technologies in Azure.
- Very good understanding of database encryption, high-availability, disaster recovery, database replication, backup/restore.
- Must be detailed oriented, have excellent written and verbal communications
QualificationsBachelors or masters
