The Credit Reporting team is responsible for the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of all consumer credit data Avant furnishes to the national credit reporting agencies across our loan and credit card products. We own the end-to-end furnishing lifecycle: pre-submission data scrubbing and validation, monthly Metro 2 file submission and exception clearing, indirect (e-OSCAR) and direct dispute investigation, corrective action design and remediation, and consumer complaint response. Primary responsibilities include: 1) ensuring every tradeline reports accurately and on time in accordance with the FCRA, Regulation V and the CDIA Credit Reporting Resource Guide (CRRG), 2) investigating and resolving disputes and escalations within statutory timeframes using all available resources including servicing platforms, bureau portals, SQL reporting and vendor tooling, and 3) identifying root cause of reporting defects and driving durable fixes with Legal, Compliance, Engineering and our offshore operations partners.

What You’ll Do:

  • Perform data scrubbing and pre-submission validation on large credit reporting data sets using Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets and SQL reporting; identify and correct Metro 2 field-level defects before files are transmitted to the bureaus.

  • Own monthly and mid-cycle furnishing submissions to Experian, Equifax and TransUnion, including exception and reject clearing, acknowledgement review and confirmation that reported data reflects as anticipated at each bureau.

  • Investigate and resolve indirect disputes (ACDVs/AUDs received through e-OSCAR) and direct consumer disputes within FCRA statutory timeframes, documenting investigation steps, evidence and outcomes to an audit-ready standard.

  • Apply and maintain working knowledge of the FCRA, Regulation V, FDCPA, ECOA, SCRA, bankruptcy and deceased reporting requirements, and the annual CRRG updates; translate guidance changes into concrete process and system requirements.

  • Troubleshoot reporting discrepancies across servicing, payments and data systems — tracing a defect from a single tradeline back to the upstream logic, vendor file or manual process that caused it.

  • Lead corrective action investigations from identification through remediation: size the impacted population, design and execute bulk corrections or resubmissions, and validate the fix held in the following cycle.

  • Leverage AI and automation tooling to reduce manual review — drafting prompts and workflows for dispute triage, document summarization, data quality checks and narrative response generation, with human review controls in place.

  • Monitor offshore team performance on dispute intake and processing queues, ensuring deadlines are met, quality meets standards, and procedures and training materials stay current.

  • Oversee public Slack channels and intake queues, addressing escalations and complaints (including CFPB, state AG and BBB matters) concerning credit reporting accuracy.

  • Work cross-functionally with Legal, Compliance, Customer Experience, Collections, Data Services, Business Intelligence and Engineering to remediate defects and continuously improve controls, monitoring and reporting logic.

Why you’re at fit:

  • Bachelor's degree (in business, finance, and/or accounting a plus).

  • 3+ years of credit reporting, dispute resolution, servicing operations or consumer lending compliance experience.

  • Working knowledge of the FCRA, Metro 2 format and the CDIA Credit Reporting Resource Guide (CRRG); e-OSCAR experience strongly preferred.

  • Proficiency with Google Suite, Microsoft Excel and other products; SQL proficiency for querying and validating large data sets.

  • Early AI adopter with tools like Anthropic Claude or Google Gemini; and a track record of using automation to eliminate manual work.

  • Desire to work with vast data sets and a high tolerance for detail-level investigation.

  • Ability to translate technical findings for non-technical partners and technical requirements for engineers.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including consumer-facing and regulator-facing written responses.

  • Flexible working traits within a team environment, including experience partnering with offshore peers across time zones.

  • Analytical orientation to decision making.

  • High level of inquisitiveness, initiative, and critical thinking, with a forward-thinking bias toward process improvement over workarounds.

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and statutory deadlines at once.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
