Responsibilities

The Sr Analyst Customer Analytics, Regulatory Reporting is a high-impact senior analyst role supporting GM Insurance’s regulatory and statistical reporting responsibilities. This position is ideal for an analytical leader who enjoys solving complex data problems, building trusted reporting processes, and partnering across functions to support compliance-critical business outcomes.

In this role, you will help lead the end-to-end regulatory reporting function, including the reporting inventory, filing calendar, report production, reconciliation, controls, documentation, and submission processes for required state, statistical, and regulatory obligations. You will collaborate closely with Legal, Accounting, Actuarial, Claims, Product, Operations, Technology, and Data & Analytics teams to interpret requirements, improve data quality, resolve reporting issues, and deliver accurate, well-controlled reporting. The role combines the core expectations of a Senior Customer Insights Analyst with a specialized focus on regulatory reporting, compliance analytics, and operational excellence.

About the role

  • Apply senior-level analytical, reporting, and problem-solving capabilities to the regulatory reporting domain, with responsibility for requirements gathering, data analysis, reporting validation, stakeholder coordination, and process improvement.
  • Support and strengthen the end-to-end regulatory and statistical reporting process for GM Insurance, including the reporting inventory, filing calendar, report production, reconciliation, control execution, and submission workflow.
  • Develop and maintain clear reporting requirements, data specifications, business rules, validation routines, procedures, and audit-ready documentation for recurring regulatory and statistical filing obligations.
  • Prepare, validate, reconcile, and support the submission of required regulatory and statistical reports, including alignment to accounting, actuarial, claims, operational, and published financial statement data where applicable.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, Accounting, Actuarial, Claims, Product, Technology, Operations, and Data & Analytics teams to interpret requirements, resolve data issues, assess reporting impacts, and support regulatory inquiries, data calls, audits, and examinations.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, automation, data quality, governance, controls, regulatory compliance, and long-term process sustainability while adhering to company policies and procedures.
     
Qualifications

What makes you an ideal candidate?

  • Advanced knowledge of customer, policy, claims, financial, and operational data used to support insurance reporting, regulatory obligations, and business decision-making.
  • Strong understanding of insurance regulatory reporting, statistical reporting, compliance-critical reporting processes, and related data requirements.
  • Knowledge of how regulatory filings and statistical submissions connect to customer, policy, claims, premium, loss, accounting, actuarial, and published financial statement data.
  • Understanding of state insurance regulations, reporting statutes, regulatory bulletins, and industry reporting standards.
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, reporting controls, reconciliations, and audit-ready reporting practices.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting organizations, including ISO, TICO, MCAS, and state Departments of Insurance, preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, reconciliation, variance analysis, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret business and regulatory requirements and translate them into clear reporting processes, data requirements, business rules, and validation criteria.
  • Ability to investigate complex reporting issues, identify root causes, and resolve discrepancies across multiple systems, functions, and data sources.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple regulatory reporting deadlines, priorities, and deliverables in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to build effective partnerships across Accounting, Legal, Actuarial, Claims, Product, Technology, Operations, and Data & Analytics teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong stakeholder management, relationship-building, attention to detail, ownership, and independent work capabilities.
  • Advanced SQL experience required, including querying, data validation, reconciliation, and reporting analysis.
  • Experience with Power BI or other reporting and business intelligence tools preferred.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and translating data into accurate reporting outputs.
  • Experience establishing reporting controls, reconciliations, procedures, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Strong sense of ownership, accountability, curiosity, and continuous improvement.
  • Insurance industry experience strongly preferred.
     

Experience

  • 5+ years of data analysis, project management and presentation skills required
  • 2+ years of SQL/Python experience required
  • 5+ senior analyst experience in customer insights, business analytics, reporting, regulatory reporting, statistical reporting, financial reporting, or a related insurance analytics function strongly preferred
  • 3+ years of regulatory reporting, statistical reporting, reconciliation, financial reporting, compliance analytics, audit-ready reporting controls, or related governance experience strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar quantitative field required; Master’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar quantitative field preferred

The base range for this role is: $96,000 - $151,000

At GM Financial, we strive for transparency in all aspects of our business, including pay equity. This is the GM Financial pay range for this role and job level. The exact salary and compensation will vary based on factors like knowledge, skills, experience, and education.

This role is eligible to participate in a performance-based incentive plan. Full time employees are eligible to participate in health benefits on day one of employment.
