      What you’ll do

      This role is accountable for leading the Bank's mortgage analytics and insights function, providing strategic direction and expert analysis of MPF, mortgage loan, and mortgage market data to inform business strategy, manage risk, support portfolio performance, and drive enterprise-wide decision making.

      How you'll make an impact

      • You will establish the vision for a multi-level organization of managers and analysts and lead the team in analyzing and developing actionable insights on the Bank's mortgage purchase program (Mortgage Partnership Finance (MPF)) and the broader mortgage market.

      • You will partner with senior Bank leaders and key stakeholders and provide them with the insights they need to manage the MPF Program and portfolio successfully through dynamically changing market conditions. 

      What you can expect

      • Establish the vision for a high-performing mortgage analytics and insights organization comprised of managers and analysts, providing leadership, strategic direction, talent development, and technical oversight across the function.

      • Partner with the MPF business and key stakeholders to analyze emerging issues and develop and recommend solutions that drive the business forward.

      • Serve as the subject matter expert on mortgage loan analytics, independently reviewing, validating, and challenging analytical methodologies, assumptions, conclusions, and recommendations developed by the team and key stakeholders.

      • Direct and independently assess the MPF portfolio to identify emerging trends, credit and market risks, performance drivers, and strategic opportunities, communicating insights to senior management, other FHLBanks, and the Board.

      • Monitor and evaluate mortgage market developments, housing finance trends, regulatory changes, capital markets activity, and competitive dynamics to assess impacts on MPF and recommend strategies for long-term success.

      • Lead internal and external communication on the performance and risk of the Bank’s MPF and mortgage loan portfolio.

      • Lead the development of advanced analytics, data science, artificial intelligence, and automation capabilities to enhance analytical depth, operational efficiency, and decision-making across the function.

      • Maintain and develop centralized reporting on the volumes, quality, risk, and performance of the MPF/mortgage loan portfolio for management, other FHLBanks, and the Board.

      • Oversee regulatory reporting on the MPF and mortgage loan portfolio to the FHFA, Office of Finance, and rating agencies as required.

      • Encourages teamwork, professionalism, and high morale on the team and throughout the Bank.

      • Drive process improvements and efficiencies to eliminate or reduce manual processes and lower the risk of error.

      • Lead a multi-level organization through subordinate managers, with responsibility for organizational design, performance management, talent development, workforce planning, and employee engagement.

      • Carry out ad hoc requests from FHLBank executives and senior leaders, auditors, and other stakeholders as needed.

      What you'll bring

      • Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, or similar quantitative field required. Master’s degree preferred.

      • 10-15 years of progressive analytical leadership experience, including significant direct experience analyzing mortgage loan portfolios, mortgage-backed securities, or other residential mortgage assets, is required.

      • Previous leadership experience is required. Strong preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated success leading analytical teams with multiple levels of leadership and who have been accountable for organizational performance, talent development, succession planning, and strategic execution of a function.

      • Deep expertise in residential mortgage lending, servicing, portfolio analytics, and mortgage market dynamics is required.

      • Demonstrated ability to perform, review, and validate complex mortgage loan analyses independently while also critically assessing the analyses, models, assumptions, and conclusions developed by the team.

      • Ability to translate complex mortgage portfolio and market analyses into clear, actionable recommendations for executive leadership, regulators, and boards of directors.

      • Strong leadership, management, and coaching skills are a must

      • Robust analysis skills and expertise with analytics tools, including extensive experience managing and analyzing data sets and using business intelligence tools, are required. Experience with Tableau and SQL is strongly preferred.

      • Must be an organized, independent thinker with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

      • Excellent interpersonal communication skills (written, oral, and listening) are required.

      Salary Range:

      $151,025.00 - $265,525.00

      The above represents the expected salary range for this job requisition.  Ultimately, in determining your pay, we may also consider your experience, and other job-related factors.
