JOB OVERVIEW

If you are a top-notch QA Automation engineer looking for a fast paced, high growth place to work while being surrounded by talented, driven peers, then join Wheels as Sr. Quality Assurance Automation Engineer on a team providing comprehensive test coverage in terms of functionality, performance, reliability, stability and compatibility to our legacy, internal and external systems. As a Sr. Quality Assurance Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing automated test frameworks and end-to-end automation test strategy with comprehensive automation scripts that would test the business requirements and maintaining to ensure the reliability, scalability, and performance of our software products. You will be involved to trouble shoot and address test failures from execution of QA Automation test suite in various test environments as you collaborate with highly talented team of skilled developers. The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineer with strong problem-solving skills, deep knowledge of automation tools, and a passion for delivering high-quality software.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Test Automation Development
    • Define scope, design and build QA robust automation framework and suite as per the department guidelines for web, mobile, API and legacy apps testing to deliver projects faster and with better quality
    • Update and maintain automation framework(s) to support the technology stack as per the department guidelines
    • Ensure that the automation scripts cover the Functional, Integration, Regression, and Performance aspects of the applications being tested
    • Assess and revise automation scripts based upon test results and/or changes in product design
    • Implement continuous integration (CI/CD) pipelines with automated testing
    • Create and maintain test data and test documentation along with the automation test scripts in the designated test repository
  • Quality Assurance
    • Collaborate with Application Developers, Product Managers, and QA team members to define test strategies in identifying and resolving problems
    • Ensure test coverage across functional, regression, performance, and security testing
    • Provide weekly/bi-weekly project QA status reports and present them at Leadership meetings
    • Participate in the daily Scrum stand ups and provide updates on projects
  • Leadership & Mentorship
    • Guide QA engineers in automation skills development and best practices.
    • Advocate for quality standards and drive improvements in testing processes
  • Problem Solving
    • Assist development team by providing suitable solutions for issues/errors based on the understanding of the system and client business processes
    • Identify, document, and track defects; work closely with engineering teams to resolve issues
    • Analyze test results and provide actionable insights to stakeholders
  • Innovation
    • Research and recommend new tools, frameworks, and approaches to improve automation efficiency.
    • Recommend and drive new/improved QA practices and procedures
    • Act as technical staff and subject matter expertise on all aspects of test automation

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ability to define and prioritize short-term and long-term objectives for the teams and make necessary corrections under changing circumstances

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 8+ years of hands-on working QA experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Background in CS, IT, or related Software Engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive experience in testing various Web, Client Server and Mobile applications, Services and User Interfaces
  • Solid experience in QA test automation area by creating repeatable, maintainable, automated test suites using tools such as Selenium and UFT
  • Expertise using automation IDE like Visual Studio Code and IntelliJ
  • Understanding of software development and test lifecycle
  • Good knowledge of Software Development methodologies like Waterfall and Agile Scrums
  • Strong knowledge of software quality assurance best practices & methodologies
  • Experience with various defect management tools like ALM and Jira
  • Strong experience writing complex SQL queries and understanding stored procedures
  • Experience or exposure to Performance Testing tools such as JMeter and Dynatrace
  • Hands-on experience with Mobile Automation testing tools like Appium
  • Exposure to Business process automation tools like UiPath
  • Experience working with onsite/offshore models
  • Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Distinguishing factors:
    • Experience in White Box testing
    • Experience or Understanding of HTML/CSS, JavaScript
    • Knowledge of BDD framework with Gherkin language implementation using Step Files
    • Hands-on Experience with Programming languages like C, C#, Python or Java.
    • Knowledge of DevOps methodology and CI Test Implementation
    • Experience with use of AI extensions like UFT One and GitHub CoPilot
    • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

JOB SPECIFICATIONS, PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work Environment:  This position is in Illinois and operates in a professional office environment.

Positions Type/Standard Schedule:  This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday.

Travel:  No Travel required for this position.

Physical Demands:  Speak, hear, and see, and to use hand and fingers for computer keyboard and phone. Sit or stand for extended periods of time. Reach above head to pull paper attachments.

Pay Range:

$95,900-$134,200

The base salary range for this position is listed above. This position is eligible to participate in the annual incentive plan which is based on company performance and individual performance. Compensation ranges are based on several factors including job function, level, and geographic location. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including candidate experience, education, certifications, skill level and expertise, and may vary from the amounts listed here.
