Department Overview

The Strategic Accounts group leads Proofpoint’s sales and account management efforts into the largest, most complex, commercial enterprises in the world.

Role Overview

Strategic Account Managers(SAMs) are topflight, consultative, enterprise information technology sales professionals. Strategic Account Managers are adept at designing and executing account plans that maximize Proofpoint’s sales success and ensure high customer satisfaction. The role requires skilled interaction at all levels within assigned account’s information technology, legal and procurement organizations.

SAMs are results oriented. They possess strong business acumen, maintain a solid sales pipeline, deliver accurate forecast to management, close sales, and demonstrate skilled verbal and written communication ability. 

SAMs are part of a regional sale structure and report to a Regional Sales Director.

Job Requirements

What:

  • Develop a comprehensive strategy and set of tactics to maximize Proofpoint sales into each assigned account.
  • Lead prospecting and cultivation of all new sales opportunities.
  • Forecast sales opportunities accurately and achieve quarterly and annual sales quotas.
  • Ensure a high level of satisfaction with each assigned account.

How:

  • ‘Quarterback’ Proofpoint’s sales efforts and resources into assigned accounts.
  • Demonstrate strong Proofpoint product knowledge and communicate the fit of each to an account’s needs.
  • Understand Proofpoint processes paying close attention to detail.
  • Establish solid working relationships with each account at all organizational levels.
