Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.

About the teamWhat you’ll do

As Stablecoin Regulatory Policy Lead, you will support the Head of Global Regulatory and Policy Development in defining Stripe’s global regulatory policy priorities with respect to stablecoins and digital assets. You will serve as the resident subject matter expert, bridging between product and business strategy and regulatory policy, coordinate cross-functional internal teams (legal, product, compliance, engineering), and help craft policy proposals and advocacy materials. The role requires deep subject-matter expertise in stablecoins, payments, money transmission, banking regulation, and crypto-specific frameworks, combined with strong analytical, communications, and stakeholder-engagement skills.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as Stripe’s primary subject matter expert on global stablecoin and digital asset regulatory policy;
  • Lead cross-functional coordination with Stripe product and business teams to understand our products, product roadmap, and business strategy to ensure policy priorities are aligned with business strategy, customer needs, and risk appetite;
  • Develop and refine Stripe’s policy framework and “point of view” on stablecoin-related public policy issues, including technical regulatory frameworks governing the issuance and use of stablecoins, and related regulatory policy relating to blockchain-based financial services and digital assets more broadly;
  • Monitor regulatory developments across jurisdictions (including central banks, financial regulators, AML/CFT authorities, securities regulators, and payments regulators);
  • Work with other members of the Legal team to assess the implications of proposed regulations on product design, operations, and market access, and provide actionable recommendations to product, compliance, and go-to-market teams;
  • Coordinate with the Government Relations team to develop Stripe’s engagement priorities and strategy with respect to stablecoins and digital assets;
  • Craft white papers, policy briefs, regulatory comment letters and consultation responses, internal strategy memos, and talking points, testimony for regulators, policy makers, and other internal and external stakeholders;
  • Anticipate medium‑ and long‑term regulatory trends and recommend proactive policy initiatives;
  • Build and maintain relationships with regulators, policymakers, and standard-setting bodies; and
  • Participate in technical and standard-setting forums to shape industry standards relevant to stablecoins.
Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements
  • Degree in law, public policy, economics, finance, computer science, or related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in public policy, regulatory affairs, government relations, or legal roles focused on payments, banking, fintech, or crypto.
  • Demonstrated expertise in stablecoins, digital payments, or e-money frameworks, including familiarity with reserve management, custody models, AML/CFT, and financial stability considerations.
  • Strong understanding of relevant regulatory regimes (payments law, banking, securities, AML, consumer protection) in at least one major jurisdiction and ability to synthesize cross-jurisdictional differences.
  • Proven track record of engaging with regulators, drafting policy submissions, and influencing outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate between technical and policy stakeholders, produce clear policy documents, and present to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to collaborate with technical and product teams.
Preferred qualifications
  • Experience working inside financial services firms, fintechs, a central bank, a regulator, or a major blockchain project.
  • Familiarity with programmable money, smart contract risk, token standards (ERC-20, token bridges), and Layer 1/Layer 2 tradeoffs.
  • Network of contacts within regulatory agencies, standard bodies (FSB, BIS), and industry coalitions.
  • Experience working across multiple jurisdictions and in fast-moving policy environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead interdisciplinary teams and manage external advocacy campaigns.
