Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Revenue Accounting team. This role will support the accurate recording of revenue, cost of goods sold (COGS), and customer payments, ensuring transactions are recorded in accordance with company policies and accounting standards. The Staff Accountant will report to the Revenue Manager and will assist in timely preparation of accurate financial information for internal and external stakeholders.The ideal candidate is highly analytical, organized, and proficient in Excel, with a strong understanding of accounting principles and experience working with large data sets.This is a remote position. The preferred candidate will have freedom to work from his/her preferred location within the United States.

Key Responsibilities

    • Record and reconcile revenue and (COGS) transactions in the general ledger.
    • Process and apply customer payments and investigate discrepancies or unapplied cash.
    • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules related to revenue and COGS.
    • Reconcile sub-ledgers to the general ledger and resolve variances.
    • Support the month-end and quarter-end close process for revenue and related accounts.
    • Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for revenue-related transactions.
    • Assist with audit requests and provide supporting documentation as needed.
    • Develop and maintain Excel-based reports and reconciliations to support revenue operations.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required.
    • 1-2 years of accounting experience is preferred but will consider entry-level candidates.
    • Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue-related accounting concepts.
    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, large data manipulation, etc.).
    • Experience working with ERP systems and accounting software preferred.
    • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.

Preferred Skills

    • Experience with cash application or accounts receivable processes.
    • Ability to analyze large data sets and identify trends or anomalies.
    • Experience improving accounting processes and documentation.
    • Experience using AI finance-related tools a plus
