Staff Product Manager, Conversational AI | Acorns

Acorns is seeking a Staff Product Manager to lead the product strategy for Ask Acorns, our AI-powered assistant, across both the Acorns and Acorns Early brands. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role that sits at the center of how Acorns uses AI to advance financial wellness for everyday people and families.

Acorns is a remote-first organization, offering the flexibility to work remotely while providing optional access to office space in Irvine, CA.

What you will do at Acorns:

  • Lead Product Strategy: Define how Ask Acorns evolves as an intelligence layer across both the Acorns and Acorns Early brands over time

  • Own the Roadmap: Define and drive the Ask Acorns roadmap, partnering with product teams across Financial Planning, Financial Products, Families, and Growth to align priorities, surface dependencies, and ensure capabilities are built and sequenced in service of the broader product strategy

  • Shape the Experience: Partner with design to craft Ask Acorns' voice, tone, and persona, and how it handles the edges of what it can help with

  • Define Skills and Capabilities: Build the strategy for Ask Acorns' skills and capabilities, including memory and longitudinal understanding, proactivity, conversation threading, and the guardrails that govern experience and safety.

  • Set the Quality Bar: Partner with engineering to establish the quality and performance bar for Ask Acorns, including latency, reliability, and the infrastructure that connects Ask Acorns to the broader Acorns product ecosystem

  • Measure and Improve: Define success metrics and eval infrastructure, partner with research to build customer feedback loops, and use conversation transcripts and system instrumentation to detect issues and improve over time

  • Evolve How We Work: Drive new ways of working across teams to improve the quality and speed of AI product development

What you will bring to Acorns:

  • 10+ years of product management experience, with at least 2 years building and shipping conversational AI products

  • Ability to define a clear product strategy and translate it into a roadmap that balances near-term execution with strategic bets, moving quickly and adapting as the AI landscape evolves

  • Heart-led and customer-obsessed, bringing genuine empathy to the work and a deep curiosity about the financial lives, hopes, and fears of everyday Americans

  • Bias for speed and action; able to make decisions with incomplete information and move quickly while maintaining the rigor a regulated environment requires

  • Deep understanding of conversational AI systems, including prompt engineering, memory, guardrails, and evals, with enough technical fluency to ask the right questions and make informed tradeoffs with engineering

  • Sharp data instincts: knowing which metrics matter, analyzing performance with depth, and using data to drive decisions and hold teams accountable

  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, including the ability to align teams, build organizational buy-in, and present effectively to senior leadership and the CEO

  • Hands-on with AI tools, using them actively to prototype ideas, stress-test assumptions, and accelerate the product development process

  • Hunger to deliver game-changing products

  • Exceptional drive and precision in delivery

  • A belief that your work is tied to your life's mission

  • Optimistic about the potential of societal change

You are not expected to have experience with all listed requirements. If you feel passionate about Acorns' mission, vision, and values, please apply.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary and stock options

  • A comprehensive benefits package for you and your family

  • Flexible work location, hours, and paid time off

  • 401(k) matching

  • Monthly Acorns account contribution & GoHenry account for your family

  • Mindfulness and Financial Wellness resources, Headspace and Addition Wealth

  • Acorns Career Development Program (Ongoing training sessions, development plans, development check-ins, Cornerstone’s online training platform)

  • Roots Leadership Program for Emerging Leaders

  • Community week onsite gatherings and various virtual events

  • Talented and motivated team members who care deeply about one another, our mission, and our customers.

  • The rare opportunity to create a new world. We inspire one another every day to do meaningful work that solves big societal challenges.
