The Queryable Encryption program is delivering one of MongoDB’s most unique and exciting products; Queryable Encryption is an industry-leading in-use encryption capability that allows customers to protect sensitive data while preserving the ability to query it, helping our most demanding and security-sensitive customers meet strict data privacy and security requirements.
As a Staff Technical Program Manager, Queryable Encryption, you will own the successful delivery of complex, cross-functional efforts for Queryable Encryption. You will be the primary owner of the Queryable Encryption program and will also contribute to upleveling other critical security-adjacent initiatives as needed.
You will partner closely with stakeholders across the organization from Engineering, Product, Cryptography, Analytics, and Field-facing teams to develop and execute against our overall product vision and business objectives, uncover solutions to technical challenges, and provide data-driven insights that power strategic decision-making.
The right candidate for this role will be:- Experienced with 10+ years of working in an engineering organization leading complex cross-functional technical programs
- Technically fluent, with the ability to partner credibly with engineers and leaders on architecture, APIs, systems behavior, delivery risk, and implementation trade-offs
- Experienced in one or more relevant domains such as security, privacy, distributed systems, databases, infrastructure, or other technically demanding product areas
- Able to partner with technical stakeholders in methodically breaking down engineering challenges to deliver against abstract goals
- Able to participate in technical design discussions and summarize trade-offs, outcomes, and next steps
- Skilled at communicating across a diverse set of engineers and stakeholders
- Capable of deep user empathy and adept at balancing product goals, customer needs, and engineering constraints to deliver impactful experiences
- Hyper-organized and capable of coordinating across multiple independent work streams and organizations
- A role model for effective execution practices, driven by an attuned sense of priority and urgency
- Able to leverage their experience in program delivery to influence improvements to our tools, operations, and architecture
- Trained in working with project tracking software (e.g. Jira, Rally, MS Project)
- Familiar with MongoDB or a comparable technology
- Experienced in security-sensitive domains or products where privacy, compliance, trust, or resilience meaningfully shape product and engineering decisions
- Hands-on software development experience can help in this role, but we care most about demonstrated technical depth, program leadership, and the ability to operate effectively in a highly technical environment
- Leverage technical acumen and analytical skills to drive engineering programs forward and maximize business value delivery
- Recognize patterns in a sea of information and take action accordingly
- Develop a strategic approach to program management that balances hands-on oversight with process-driven operationalization
- Build strategic partnerships with Product, Crypto, Engineering, Analytics, and Marketing stakeholders
- Expand knowledge into new domains as called upon
- Drive alignment across security, server, drivers, developer experience, and supporting teams, identifying dependencies early and resolving friction before it slows delivery
- Help teams navigate technical and organizational trade-offs across security, usability, compatibility, performance, and operability
- Contribute to the TPM organization by mentoring peers and helping raise the quality bar for program leadership and written artifacts
- In 3 months you will be ramped on the Queryable Encryption product and engineering roadmap, core stakeholders, and major delivery risks
- In 6 months you will own and drive critical initiatives across the Queryable Encryption portfolio while contributing to improvements in adjacent security-focused areas
- In 12 months you will be leading multiple high impact efforts and integrating improvements to frameworks for managing critical programs at MongoDB

MongoDB’s base salary range for this role is posted below. Compensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of MongoDB’s total compensation and benefits package.
