The Storage Engineer Senior provides senior-level engineering and operational support for storage services under the SEC ISS contract. This role is accountable for day-to-day SAN administration, with emphasis on EMC and NetApp platforms and NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP environments. The position supports SEC objectives for high availability, performance, data integrity, and operational continuity across enterprise storage infrastructure. The engineer works closely with enterprise operations and service management teams to resolve incidents, maintain SLA-aligned performance, and execute proactive capacity planning.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

SAN Operations and Administration

  • Administer and maintain the SEC storage area network (SAN) environment, including EMC and NetApp systems.

  • Perform day-to-day administration of NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP, including provisioning, monitoring, and optimization.

  • Ensure storage platform availability, reliability, and performance for enterprise applications, databases, virtual workloads, and user data.

  • Execute storage lifecycle tasks including configuration management, patching/firmware updates, and operational health checks.

Storage Architecture and Integration

  • Design and implement advanced, vendor-agnostic storage solutions across multi-vendor environments.

  • Integrate storage services with backup, virtualization, and disaster recovery components to meet operational requirements.

  • Implement and support NetApp SnapMirror, SnapVault, and SnapCenter data protection workflows, aligned with Veritas NetBackup operations.

  • Provide technical leadership to the SAN team on architecture decisions, standards, and implementation approaches.

Incident, Problem, and Service Management

  • Lead SAN-focused incident analysis, triage, escalation, and resolution for production storage events.

  • Coordinate with enterprise operations stakeholders to restore service quickly during high-priority incidents.

  • Perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions to reduce repeat storage incidents.

  • Contribute to SLA-driven operational reporting, documentation, and service improvement activities.

Capacity, Forecasting, and Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor storage utilization, growth trends, and performance indicators across enterprise platforms.

  • Develop and maintain capacity forecasts and recommendations to prevent resource constraints and service degradation.

  • Plan and coordinate storage expansions, rebalancing, and performance tuning activities.

  • Identify and implement operational improvements that increase resiliency, efficiency, and long-term service quality.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position is restricted to U.S. citizens only. Applicants must not hold dual citizenship with any other country to be eligible for work under this contract.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain SEC Public Trust.

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering).

  • 4+ years of experience managing storage area networks (SAN), specializing in EMC and NetApp systems.

  • Experience working with NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP software.

  • Must possess a NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) certification or equivalent.

  • Experience leading analysis, identification, and resolution of storage-related IT incidents in enterprise environments.

  • EMC and NetApp enterprise storage administration.

  • NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP (cDOT).

  • SAN capacity monitoring and forecasting.

  • Multi-vendor storage integration using vendor-agnostic design principles.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting federal IT environments with strict security/compliance requirements (e.g., FISMA/NIST-aligned operations).

  • Experience operating enterprise-scale storage environments with multi-site replication and disaster recovery coordination.

  • Advanced NetApp certification beyond NCDA (e.g., NCSE/NCSIE) or comparable senior storage certification.

  • Experience integrating storage services with VMware ecosystems and enterprise backup platforms.

  • ITIL Foundation (or higher) and demonstrated use of automation/scripting for storage operations and reporting.

  • NetApp Certified Support Engineer (NCSE) or NetApp Certified Storage Installation Engineer (NCSIE).

  • Dell EMC Proven Professional certification.

  • ITIL 4 Foundation.
