By taking a proactive and practical approach, we deliver pragmatic solutions to address tax challenges and enhance internal tax functions.

 

We are seeking an experienced Manager to join our Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) State and Local Tax (SALT) practice. This role focuses on advising private equity firms, corporate acquirers, and privately held businesses through all phases of the transaction lifecycle, including buy-side and sell-side due diligence, tax structuring, transaction planning, and post-close integration. The ideal candidate combines strong technical state and local tax knowledge with project management skills and the ability to build trusted client relationships.

Who You Are:

  • CPA, JD, MST, or equivalent professional credential preferred.

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in State and Local Tax, including meaningful M&A due diligence experience.

  • Experience in public accounting, consulting, or a transaction advisory practice.

  • Strong technical knowledge across multiple state and local tax disciplines.

  • Experience managing multiple client engagements and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Strong written communication skills with experience preparing client-ready reports.

  • Ability to manage multiple engagements in a team environment.

  • Thrive in an ever-changing, dynamic work environment and readily identify problems and instinctively look for solutions. 

  • Enjoy participating in internal and external company initiatives such as community service, training, recruiting, and firm events. 

  • Ability and desire to travel as needed.

  • Sales and use tax risk assessments

  • Income and franchise tax nexus analyses

  • Voluntary disclosure and remediation projects

  • Taxability studies

  • Transaction structuring

  • Pre-sale readiness assessments

  • Post-acquisition integration

  • State audit defense and controversy

  • Tax process improvement and compliance optimization
