Technical Writer

We are looking for a Technical Writer to join our growing team in Chicago. You will help us bridge the gap between complex technical details and clear, usable content for our external developer audience. You will be a part of our Customer Experience team here in Chicago.

This is a role for someone who loves the nitty gritty but can also see the bigger picture. You will be joining a high-performing team, with the enormous potential to impact the first resource a customer sees: our documentation.

What you’ll do
  • Create & Refine: Write high-quality API reference docs, developer guides, and code samples in clear, concise English.
  • Collaborate: Work closely with developers, product managers, and implementation managers to ensure documentation is accurate and well-scoped.
  • Optimize: Use docs-as-code workflow (Git, Markdown) to deliver and automate documentation updates.
  • Peer Review: Contribute to the team’s excellence by reviewing and copy-editing content created by both fellow writers and non-writers.
  • Influence: Actively participate in evolving our style guide and improving the user experience for documentation.

Who you are
  • Experienced: You have 3+ years of experience in technical or developer documentation, preferably within a SaaS or Fintech environment.
  • Technical: You are comfortable documenting APIs and have a strong working knowledge of Markdown and Git.
  • Growth-Minded: You have strong writing fundamentals and are looking to mold your skills within a supportive team environment. You aren’t just looking for the next promotion, you want to build deep institutional knowledge.
  • Adaptable: You can shift your tone for different audiences and are comfortable distilling large amounts of technical information into concise content.
  • Owner: You like to take ownership of your work, are outspoken about quality, and enjoy driving documentation forward.
  • Plus: Familiarity with programming languages (Java, Python, C#) or tools like Postman and IntelliJ is a significant advantage.

Other Job Details:
  • Location: This role is based in our Chicago office. We value in-person collaboration and operate a hybrid workplace (3 days from the office); we do not offer remote-only roles.
  • Team: You’ll join a global group of 18 writers.

The annual base salary range for this role is $100,000 - $125,000; to learn more about our compensation philosophy, please click here.
