Smithbucklin, a 650-person, employee-owned professional services company with more than 70 years of success serving the association market, with primary offices in Chicago and Washington, D.C., is looking for a Product Technology Analyst to join our Information Technology Services (ITS) team in our Chicago office. Our ITS unit provides technology strategy delivered via tactical specialty areas to help association clients best leverage technology to meet their organization's operational and strategic goals.
The Product Technology Analyst is a product-focused technology professional with experience supporting commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) SaaS platforms in the association management space. In this role, the analyst builds strong client relationships, serves as a subject matter expert across key platforms, and supports both implementations and the ongoing optimization of existing solutions.

This role partners closely with clients, vendors, and internal teams to ensure platforms are effectively selected, implemented, and enhanced to drive measurable business value. The Product Technology Analyst reports to the Senior Product Support Manager and plays a key role in shaping how technology solutions are delivered across our client organizations.

What You Will Do:
  • Acts as a subject matter expert on association and event technology platforms, including AMS, CRM, event management, and engagement tools
  • Serves as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders and clients on platform capabilities, enhancements, and best practices
  • Leads and supports implementation efforts for SaaS platforms, including requirements gathering, configuration, testing, and go-live support
  • Manage the team’s backlog of open issues with all preferred vendors; escalating issues as needed and properly communicating resolutions
  • Partners with clients and internal technical teams to identify opportunities to enhance existing implementations driving adoption and effective use of platform features, integrations, or process improvements
  • Maintains awareness of vendor roadmaps, releases, and industry trends; translates insights into actionable recommendations
  • Facilitates discovery sessions to translate business needs into platform capabilities and configurations
  • Supports evaluation and selection of new technology solutions, including vendor comparisons and recommendations
  • Coordinate activities between the different internal technology project teams, ensuring smooth communication during project implementation
  • Primary contributor to product knowledgebase including articles on system configurations, custom workflows and use cases, and governance documents
  • Contribute to internal best practices, playbooks, and standards for SaaS platform implementation and management
  • Embrace a 100% client interfacing role with ownership and accountability for multiple technology platforms  and related needs led by the Senior Product Support Manager
This Role Might Be for You If You…
  • Have experience working with SaaS platforms in a product, implementation, or business analyst capacity
  • Enjoy working at the intersection of technology, vendors, and client delivery
  • Exhibit a strong proficiency in software applications, including practical experience and knowledge of website architecture, web tools and database interactions
  • Are excited by configuring complex applications and workflows
  • Are comfortable working with and manipulating data for potential data migration projects and/or reporting needs
  • Possess practical experience in writing requirements documents, use cases, process diagrams, flow charts, design documents, system support documents and user manuals
  • Possess the ability to communicate findings and recommendations clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences. 
  • Have a keen eye for details
  • Have demonstrated success working in a team-based environment
  • Have excellent business/system process skills, exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, and be able to clearly articulate solutions to end users
  • Have proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting projects deadlines on time
  • Are comfortable in technology environments and enthusiastic about learning new technologies
Basic Qualifications:
  • Prior experience in product development, project management, or related roles is highly valued
  • Must be a self-motivated team player with a positive attitude
Preferred Qualifications:  
  • 4+ years experience in product management, business analysis, strategic consulting or related field
  • Experience working directly with external clients and/or vendors
  • Product management mindset, including familiarity with roadmaps, prioritization, and user needs
  • Knowledge, usage and/or management of Association Management Systems (AMS) or CRMs
  • Understanding of the SaaS (software as a service) business and technology model
  • Experience with Membership and Credentialing organizations
  • Familiarity with data analytics, dashboarding, and business intelligence
  • Exposure to integrations, APIs, or data workflows
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Capacity to identify and resolve complex issues
  • Trade or professional association experience

Smithbucklin is a hybrid work environment with in-office days established as Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday.  Employees will work a standard 40-hour week, with the possibility of additional hours based on project deadlines.
 
Smithbucklin considers several factors when determining compensation, including a candidate's recent coursework, training, experience, and certifications, among other considerations. The expected pay for this role is $70,000-$90,000.
