JOB TITLE: Temporary Corporate Engagement Coordinator
LOCATION/DEPT: Divisional Headquarters

Position Summary
The Temporary Corporate Engagement Coordinator provides hands-on administrative, volunteer-service, and logistical support during The Salvation Army’s high-volume Christmas season. The coordinator helps deliver a responsive and welcoming experience for corporate partners, volunteers, officers, and community members while supporting Red Kettle, Angel Tree, marathon stewardship, inventory, mascot, and other seasonal activities. This position works closely with the Red Kettle Campaign Manager and collaborates across the Corporate Engagement and Volunteer Engagement teams as priorities shift throughout the season.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Angel Tree and Corporate Campaign Support
- Create, print, organize, package, and mail paper Angel Tree tags and related materials requested by corporate and community partners.
- Track partner requests, quantities, mailing details, deadlines, and completion status; communicate timely updates to the appropriate team member.
- Assist with assembling campaign materials, volunteer instructions, signage, and seasonal partner packets.
Red Kettle and Golden Support
- Respond courteously to incoming questions from officers, volunteers, bell ringers, and partners regarding Red Kettle participation and the Golden volunteer platform.
- Help volunteers navigate account setup and registration, including phone-based assistance when system functionality and procedures permit.
- Support kettle management, material preparation, distribution, collection, organization, and other physical or time-sensitive campaign needs.
- Document common questions or recurring issues and route technical, policy, or field concerns to the appropriate staff member.
Inventory and Event Logistics
- Maintain accurate check-in/check-out records and current locations for shared Development materials, including tablecloths, promotional items, mascot costumes, step-and-repeats, signs, banners, and pop-up tents.
- Help organize designated storage areas, complete routine inventory checks, and notify staff when materials are missing, damaged, or need replenishment.
- Prepare, load, transport, set up, break down, and return campaign or event materials as assigned.
Mascot Coordination
- Reliably serve as a mascot performer for approved events and appearances, as scheduling and physical requirements allow.
- Coordinate costume check-out, return, cleanliness, condition, storage, and location tracking.
- Assist with appearance logistics and work with an assigned handler to support safe, professional, and engaging mascot interactions.
Stewardship and Administrative Support
- Prepare, personalize, assemble, and mail Chicago Marathon thank-you letters and other seasonal acknowledgments.
- Support data entry, list management, mail merges, filing, copying, printing, labeling, and general project tracking.
- Provide responsive support for other Corporate Engagement, Volunteer Engagement, and seasonal campaign priorities as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; some college or relevant nonprofit, customer service, administrative, volunteer, event, or campaign experience preferred.
- Strong organization, follow-through, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple requests and deadlines during a fast-paced season.
- Professional, patient, and service-oriented communication skills, including comfort assisting people by phone, email, and in person.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel; ability to learn volunteer registration, inventory, and tracking systems.
- Ability to work independently while coordinating closely with multiple team members and escalating questions appropriately.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation preferred because local travel or material transport may occasionally be required.
- Commitment to The Salvation Army’s mission and ability to represent the organization professionally with partners, volunteers, officers, and the public.
Physical and Scheduling Requirements
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or move campaign and event materials weighing up to 40 pounds, with reasonable accommodation when applicable.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform event setup or breakdown for extended periods.
- Ability to safely wear a mascot costume for scheduled intervals, subject to costume fit, environmental conditions, required breaks, and established safety practices.
- Availability for occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, and off-site events during peak campaign periods.
Success in This Role
Success will be demonstrated through accurate and timely fulfillment of partner requests, dependable volunteer assistance, well-organized and traceable inventory, reliable campaign and mascot support, professional communication, and consistent completion of assigned seasonal projects.

This temporary position is designed to respond to seasonal priorities. Duties, schedule, and assignment mix may change based on campaign volume, system readiness, event needs, and team workload.
