Job Description:

Join General Dynamics IT and be a part of a team that solve some of the world's most complex technical challenges. We are seeking a 5G Network Integration Lead to join our team in support of the Army TEN-M program.

This is a remote position and requires 25% to 50% travel; you must reside within a 50-mile radius of a major airport

The Network Integration Lead is responsible for planning, designing, deploying, and validating fiber and wireless network infrastructure in alignment with DoW guidelines, requirements, and industry standards. This role conducts comprehensive site surveys, develops optimized fiber and wireless designs, and produces all necessary technical documentation to support end‑to‑end deployment and integration activities.

The Lead oversees the construction, installation, integration, and activation of fiber and wireless systems—including DWDM, ROADM, optical transport platforms, and OEM wireless technologies such as Ericsson and Nokia. This includes managing subcontractor teams, ensuring all work meets performance, quality, and compliance requirements, and coordinating closely with construction, OSP, RF engineering, QA/QC, and NOC teams to ensure seamless service turn‑up with minimal operational impact.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Activating newly deployed fiber routes and integrating them into the existing optical transport network.
  • Configuring and integrating 5G Core functions, transport systems, and IP network infrastructure.
  • Managing DWDM/ROADM configuration, optical power alignment, transponder turn-up, and end‑to‑end lightpath provisioning.
  • Validating interfaces between network components and Government systems, conducting system acceptance testing, capturing logs and packet traces, troubleshooting issues, and supporting optimization and project closeout.
  • Developing integration procedures, validating interoperability across vendor platforms, and ensuring compliance with security and operational requirements.

The Lead further:

  • Conducts detailed site surveys, assessing environmental conditions, site topology, fiber assets, power availability, wireless coverage needs, and infrastructure readiness. Produces site‑specific designs aligned with program and PWS requirements.
  • Builds site survey, design, installation, and testing plans and processes in coordination with OEM partners, engineering teams, and government stakeholders.
  • Oversees on‑site survey walks, OTDR testing, A&E drawing reviews, and all related engineering validation activities.
  • Performs end‑to‑end fiber design using tools such as Vetro, ArcGIS, or equivalent platforms, and leads integration of fiber backhaul with private 5G nodes, ensuring performance across all transport layers.
  • Develops the Test Network Modernization Plan (TNMP) and the Acceptance Test Plan (ATP) covering fiber, optical, and wireless technologies.
  • Manages subcontractor fiber crews for aerial and underground deployments, ensuring correct execution of OTDR testing, fiber characterization, and integration with transport and wireless networks.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS/BA Degree; additional years of experience may be considered in lieu of degree
  • 10+ years of network configuration management experience with emphasis on 5G technologies and understanding of the duties as described above
  • 5+ years of technical leadership experience desired
  • Secret Clearance desired
