About this role

The Portfolio Consultant is a Vice President / Director level role within BlackRock’s Portfolio Design Team in the US Wealth Advisory (USWA) business. The Portfolio Design team provides detailed portfolio construction guidance to the key investment decision makers at the largest and fastest growing financial advisory firms.

As a Portfolio Consultant, you will be expected to:

  • Build recurring, research-based consulting relationships with the largest, and fastest growing advisor teams and RIAs, helping them create new models, improve existing models, and implement their best investment ideas at scale.
  • Combine quantitative portfolio analysis with qualitative insights to impactfully communicate with key investment decision makers.
  • Partner with BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies and Solutions (MASS) team to deploy custom model solutions.
  • Create strong relationships with internal sales and distribution partners. Must approach the role as a business owner and be accountable for maintaining a full calendar of events and meetings.
  • Support USWA initiatives to create a portfolio construction-centric selling culture by partnering with BlackRock’s investment teams to develop thought leadership and commercial narratives.

Qualification / Skills

  • BA/BS required.  Advanced Degree / CFA is strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years investment or asset management experience; additional experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills are a must. Background in statistics, econometrics, or other technical discipline desired.
  • Experience managing multi-asset portfolios and building investment platforms for US wealth clients.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.  Must be credible as an investment professional and able to distill complex portfolio theory down to actionable insights.
  • Interest and aptitude for continued learning. Stay on the forefront of practical application of portfolio theory and product development.
  • Series 7 & Series 66 required
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$200,000.00 - USD$270,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance. For Princeton, NJ, Chicago, IL and Boston, MA Only the salary range for this position is USD$185,000.00 - USD$250,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including healthcare, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
